There are one hundred and fifty-five (155) offenders in Houston (Zip Code 77022), Texas. Most of the offenders are convicted of sexual assault. The convicts have a varied range of their ages; some were born as early as the 1950s while others were born in 1990s. Most of the victims of the assaults were minors of less than 18 years of age. Some of the victims are as young as five, six and nine years of age. Such young people may have their future lives. Other victims are also older, over eighteen years old. The age differences show how any individual, despite their ages is at risk of being sexually assaulted.

It is frightening and disheartening to live in this area after knowing that there is a potential for people of female gender being assaulted sexually. Sexual assault is a dangerous act as it may cause infections such as Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs). It may also cause depression and trauma on the victims as well as make them shy off the public due to the stigmatization. As much as they are humans and have their rights, there is a feeling of insecurity with them living in Houston. There could be a possibility that they have friends with whom they commit the crimes and may be at large. Members of the public need to know the people who carry out such heinous acts so that they protect their children from them, help them quit their bad habits and lead meaningful lives and also report any incidences that they think are a precedent to crime in their localities. Perpetrators of crime are supposed to serve their jail terms and corrected within the institutions so that when they come back to the community, they engage in constructive activities and quit crimes. Justice is the only way to pay for the evil that they carry out and the damages that they cause.

It is good to know that someone has reformed from their criminal lives and live are trying to live in peace. Each person makes mistakes, and some regret them and change for the good. However, it takes time for one to gain the trust and respect as they used to before conviction. Some may hide behind the reformation claims, only to victimize unsuspecting citizens. The reformations claims may be a way of gaining trust and contact with the rest of the population so that they can carry out their criminal acts again. Reformation is not about words only; it is also about actions. One has to show through their actions that they have changed and are ready to live within the community. However, there are those who are truly sorry for their previous actions and try as much as they can to reverse the situation through good deeds and honesty. Such people deserve to be helped by the society by accepting them and advising them so that they do not relapse into crime again. Sometimes individuals who have been convicted of a crime may be the best teacher to people who may be tempted to become criminals. The narrations of their life in prison and the separation from families can be used to bring about change in the community where they live.

Such information should be made readily available for the members of the public to identify who is a dangerous person and know how to avoid them. Some people may be convicted more than once over the same allegations of sexual assault. Information on such people helps one know the areas and locations to avoid especially at odd hours or in situations where there is nobody else to accompany them. An informed public can make choices on who to associate with and when so that they do not fall prey of the criminals who pose as good persons. Parents may also use the information to protect their children. Minors are the most at risk population because they are easily tricked into traps, and they are less able to fight back in case they find themselves in an awkward situation. Parents may ask them to avoid specific persons altogether or raise the alarm in case they feel suspicious around such people. The information can also be used to determine if people have served their jail terms or not. Some people commit crimes and disappear for a long time before resurfacing again. Such people may be at risk of suspicious attacks from the general public. Information that they were convicted and have served their terms is important as the people know that they have already paid their debts in jail. Finally, it is through such exposure that the public can play their policing roles to help avert organized crimes. Some of the convicted criminals engage in more than one crime such as drug trafficking and other forms of organized crime.

Knowing about the people who are involved in sexual assault and other crimes might be helpful as the public knows who to relate to and who not to. Parents also know in whose company their children are safe or if their safety is compromised. It is possible that people who are involved in such crimes as sexual assault may also take part in other crimes such as drug and human trafficking. Information about them may help the public know of their accomplices and identify any plans of crime in their locality.
