Human beings need to be sensitive to their environment to survive. The environment that one finds themselves in can either encourage or discourage certain behaviors that occur (Kreitzer, 2016). A good example is the current "black lives matter protests" that are ongoing in the country. I agree with you that the prevalent behavior is enhanced by peoples' attitudes toward the oppression and stereotyping that exists. As a human being, one aims to be as comfortable as possible, and they need security and safety (Kreitzer, 2016). This explains more about the factors that led to the current protests. The Black lives matter movement has been speaking up against racial injustices that exist (Siscoe, 2016). However, following the death of George Floyd, the African American community no longer felt safe, comfortable, or secure in their community. People from other cultures also witnessed how police racially discriminate against the black community (Siscoe, 2016). This then led to protests from everyone who felt the oppression as the social environment facilitated people from all cultures to take part in the protest and stand up against the injustice.

The society contributes to the individual beliefs and attitudes that exist. The sociocultural theory looks at how people learn behaviors and the way they are influenced by their peers (Wang, Bruce, & Hughes, 2011). Children are indeed born with innate biological constraints in their minds. However, society must provide them the means to adapt to the society they find themselves living in. I believe that the sociocultural theory does not only impact children but also anybody who can learn anything. Cognitive development continues throughout teenage to early adulthood (Stiles et al., 2015). This shows that society can have an immense impact on the behaviors portrayed by an individual. I grew up in a community that had normalized spirituality but did not embrace the various religions that existed. However, once I joined high school, and we shifted to a different city, I became exposed to various religions and even experienced going to church; thus, I acquired new beliefs and attitudes towards religion and spirituality. I agree that society can facilitate the rise and continual of a cultural phenomenon such as YouTube. Society has indeed embraced and latched on this video streaming site and led to its propagation to a point where it has become a sustainable career.
