Terrorists know how to take advantage of democracies. Democratic systems allow expressiveness and alternative conflict resolution processes. However, instead of terrorists using this to air their grievances, they use it to advance their selfish interests. Democracies give more opportunities to terrorists and are more permissive. Democracies often allow freedom of expression and movement to their citizens. These terrorist groups take advantage of this to meet and plan their evil deeds. They know they can freely gather without raising eyebrows because their respective governments allow them. There is also the superiority complex among the terrorist groups, with each group trying to prove they are the better ones. Therefore, they launch continuous attacks on their respective countries and even governments as a way of trying to prove that they are the best. There seems to be no hope of terrorism stopping in democracies. The law already allows such freedoms and infringing on them could lead to the government being sued. The only possible way to deal with this then would be to introduce dictatorship.
Technology is aiding terrorists more than it is helping the government. With widespread use and ease of access of the internet, it is easy for these terror groups to reach out to non-radicalized individuals. There are sites that are encrypted and are used for recruiting the members. Even as the government fights a new avenue, the terrorist are always onto the next move technologically. The government is therefore forced to be on toes to keep up with the changes in technology to help fight terrorism. Terrorists are becoming smarter by the day, and the future seems to favor them in terms of technology. They come up with new strategies and weapons by the day. If the government does not step in to put extra effort, then they are in for a hard time from these radicalized individuals.

Hi Smith, I like the point where you mention that democracies are vulnerable to terrorism because some individuals may take advantage of the freedom of speech and information to propagate hateful ideas. Technology now has advanced rapidly, and some malicious individuals may use social media, for instance, to spread hate and incite people against particular groups.
Hello Day, I would like to add on your point of terrorism coming from ‘inside the country’. Indeed there has been a lot of concern about ‘home-grown’ terrorists. Some people within the country could have extreme ideas, which could cause turbulence to a democratic society such as the United States. Several mass shooting incidents in the US are a testimony to this.
