Art is undoubtedly a vital indicator of the day-to-day activities of humankind including the inner energy of spirit that dwells in a being. The inner energy is likened to light and beauty as well as life’s seasons, which make the most important aspects of spirituality. Vital elements of art such as visual arts and poetry are not only able to entertain but also provide a platform where creative souls can express their inner energy of spirit. This paper will look into the extent to which spirituality manifests itself in both visual arts and poetry, as well as the various ways in which it is portrayed in the two media. 

Various forms of visual arts such as stone painting and photography have been used to depict spiritual principles and values. In essence, spirituality enables one to elucidate mystery relationships. Consequently, the search for meaning leads to the discovery of things whose understanding is beyond language. Therefore, visual arts tend to play a vital role in communicating these understandings. Additionally, visual artists use creativity to portray spiritual cravings and perceptions. Creativity converts the inner perception in a person into tangible and physical objects such as paintings, sculptures, and drawings.

Conversely, poetry majors on words that are particularly woven into the creations of beauty and nature to depict spiritual themes. A poem is essentially inspired by inner exploration of the inner and outer worlds of a person. Spirituality is clenched within these two worlds, waiting to be unveiled through words. Thus, the extent to which spirituality manifests itself in poetry depends on the depth of understanding and conviction of the poet. 

There are diverse ways through which spirituality manifests itself in visual arts. Firstly, most ancient artworks had partial or full inclinations to spirituality. In addition, there exist diverse artistic shapes that are closely linked to spiritual beings or an existence at the very least of it. These shapes are close, if not inseparable, with the one’s consciousness. Additionally, some forms of arts are given so much accord that they calm or agitate people who identify themselves with what they stand for. A case in point is the cross. Also, some objects such as utensils in some cultures are decorated based on their respective tradition. 

Poetry primarily employs words to depict spiritual affiliations and beliefs. Therefore, the manifestation of spirituality delves much into the figurative and creative application of words. The poems that are used to diversify the topic of spirituality may take the form of stories attributed to spiritual beings or powers. In addition, such poems may take the form of commentaries on deities, religion or even the source of known or perceives powers. Spiritual writers also use words to manifest the essence and presence of a known spirituality. Poets such as Edward Taylors have used poetry to show their devotion to God. It is worth noting that various spiritual poems, especially ancient ones, are still a credible point of reference to religion and its source. 

In conclusion, there exists a correlation between various forms arts and the way one lives. When people engage in imagination and openness, they are highly likely to reflect on their inner spiritual cravings and perceptions. This reflection, in turn, is best depicted through the application of visual arts and by expression of words. Indeed, visual arts and poetry are crucial media through which spirituality evidences itself.
