As a museum director the most preferred city museum’s mission that I would prefer will be to offer education to all the targeted students (Draft, 2014). The mission would further target all students, including, the public school students, the undergraduate and the graduates. This simply implies that every student irrespective of level of education should have access to the museum on a given day. In addition to offering education sources to all the students, adult education would also be effective. It is clear that including all the students from diverse stream is essential since it will help in the utilization of the museum to promote learning in a real sense in addition to establishing the museum as a core teaching institution. Therefore, in order to involve all the students, it is important that the museum be kept as a primary community resource where the entire student would be able to access it easily and take part in various workshops and other training programs. Therefore, it is essential that the museum act as a community resource for everyone (Draft, 2014).

How would you attempt to resolve the underlying conflicts among stakeholders about the museum’s purpose and direction?

From the case study it is evident that the museum has been facing various forms of fights among its stakeholders concerning the mission of the museum and its course. Therefore, in order to for the museum to function effectively, there is the need to come up with a strategy to solve the potential conflict that could destabilize the museum’s efficiency (Draft, 2014). Therefore, the most effective strategy that would enable the museum to address the underlying conflict, there is the need for the museum to adopt the strategy of accommodating all the stakeholders who are directly or indirectly affected by the conflict. For instance, through involving all the stakeholders, decision making on how to effectively implement the mission would be made in consensus. Additionally, to make the implementation process effectively and further eliminate potential conflict, there is the need to accommodate the museum as a key community process for the public, private, adults, graduate and undergraduate each on its specific day. Therefore, there will be a planned schedule on the level of education and the day to access the museum facility to avoid potential congestion and friction that might occur (Draft, 2014).

What actions would you take to implement the mission you decide to adopt? Be specific

In order to implement the mission effectively, which is to promote and provide education for all, there is the need to first of all bringing the museum to public attention, whoever efforts should be made to ensure that this is accomplished in a non-controversial manner. Al the stakeholders should be able to understand what the mission is all about and how they will benefit from the same in addition to their role to make the museum effective. It is important to promote education to every student without necessarily creating aspect of controversy among all the partners involved. Additionally, it would be essential to ensure that all efforts are directed towards incorporating diverse suggestions and ideas from all the potential stakeholders and this will be made specifically through a voting mechanism. Further the mission that would obtain maximum votes in the voting process will then be combined in what can be considered as the optimum fashion and in addition to this; there would be the need to set effective direction (Draft, 2014).

Conclusion

It is clear from the case study that the museum plays a significant role in the community, but to make it effective, there is the need to adopt and implement the mission to offer education to all students at every level of education to ensure that each access the museum and benefit from the resources offered. The essay has further identified the core strategy to prevent conflict is to engage all the stakeholders and further suggest the most effective approach to ensure the implementation of the mission is effective and successful.
