The long debate over the issue of gun control seems to be perpetual as the world wakes up to brand new headlines about innocent lives lost due to excessive use of guns in the society. Although concerted measures have been employed to provide a lasting solution, free gun activities continue to kill thousands of innocents. The assumption that all gun bearers are irresponsible is implausible as there is a majority of households which rationally handle guns. However, lack of gun control is detrimental to the state of security as crime rates have been observed to rise in the past two decades and more public shootings are expected to increase failure to the implementation of the policies.

Another example is the Paris shootings in 2015 where terrorists executed a series of terrorist attacks. Therefore, guns are even more dangerous in the hands of specific groups in society.

Also, banning guns from the midst of the society would reduce the probability of petty crimes and following cases from occurring. Research has discovered that the availability of guns has caused the thriving of illegal drug businesses and a series of theft and store robberies (Blanco, 2015). Guns used in these crimes are either stolen or cheaply purchased over the counter of licensed guns’ stores. Thus, forbidding the personal custodian of firearms would notably decrease the general crime rates in the country.

In conclusion, though there are compelling reasons as to why gun control should not be affected such as the good folks protecting themselves, or that guns are vital to some of the cultural practices such as hunting. The society should not discourse on whether or not to implement gun control laws but instead treat the matter with utmost strictness and urgency to prevent the occurrence of future public shootings. Gun control is monumental to the preservation of human life, and its implementation should not be delayed further in all states. Undeniably, the cons of gun control outweigh the pros since the most valuable aspect of the society that is the human life faces constant threats. Given that not every member of the community is injudicious, a total ban of private ownership of guns should not be implemented but instead laws discouraging the process.
