There have been numerous debates surrounding the contemporary issue of gun ownership. There are a group of people that believe gun ownership is a solution to the insecurity issues that are being faced in the country. However, there is another group of people who believe that gun ownership is a cause of the many security issues such as gang shooting that are being experienced in many parts of the country. All these groups have their valid reasons to justify why they subscribe to a particular belief. The government of the United States has dealt with the issue with a lot of precaution. Several policies have been formulated with regards to gun acquisition and ownership. In my opinion and based on facts surrounding the debate on gun ownership, I believe that gun ownership has enhanced safety in many parts of the world. This paper will argue on how safety has been enhanced through gun ownership.

Reasons for  Evidence for Reasons
Several studies have shown that thieves are less likely to attack a home that they know there is a gun owner.  It is so because of the fear that their chances of getting killed by the gun owner in the process of protecting himself or herself are high ( Stroebe, et al. 2017) . This shows that the fear of being shot is usually enough to scare away criminals from targeting some homes and some people. With such measures, the gun owners can live a life free of threats of attacks by thieves.
In different movie settings that have tried to highlight the concept of gun ownership, it is always evident that people owning guns are at a higher chance of defending themselves compared to the people that do not own a gun.  In the movies, the gun owner is always able to pull their gun on time when they detect danger and protect themselves from the threat. The result of them being attacked is maybe getting wounded and being rushed to the hospital. They would eventually survive ( Cook, et al. 2019) . However, this is different for people who do not own a gun. They are most vulnerable, and with lack of a good weapon to defend themselves with, they can easily get killed or be injured a lot ( Kalesan, et al. 2016) . This is enough to prove that most of the scriptwriters of the movies try to show the need to own a gun to protect yourself from any possible attack that you might face.
Gun ownership gives sense of security.  Just from the general view, when one owns a gun, he feels that he is safe from any external or internal attack that he might face. With an external attack, he can fight back by scaring the attackers with a gun or shooting the attackers to protect his life. It is, therefore, a simple thing to those owning a gun to have a chance to fight back when they have been attacked. As much as the definitive numbers on the consistency of the defensive gun use in the United States are very minimal to come across, they can range from 550002 to top value of up to a million. However, the statistics will not be of any use when you are using your firearm to protect yourself from people that pose a threat to you. It is thus clear that gun ownership gives a sense of security and by that enhancing the security of an individual.
Different experts have given their view concerning the issue of gun ownership.  Some people believe that gun ownership contributes to instances of illegal shootings. They also argue that most of the guns owned are acquired illegally and therefore there is a need to stop gun ownership or through gun control to ensure such illegal acts are not practiced. However, most of the experts have shown that gun ownership, one’s safety is boosted. Through owning a gun, you can go to places that otherwise, you could have considered dangerous ( Lynch, 2017) . They argue that every human being and especially the rich are vulnerable to attack. The only sure way to increase their safety from the many possible attackers on their wealth is through issues with the gun that they can use to protect themselves in case of a robbery or an attack ( Kleck, 2015) . The same phenomenon is also true for poor people who may have something of value, and they may want to protect. The experts’ beliefs that through issuing of guns, they can protect themselves easily and thus enhance safety.
Conclusion Statement: In conclusion, it is evident that gun ownership is a controversial issue with people on both sides. However, the paper has proved that with gun ownership, the safety of an individual or a place is enhanced. To support these, different studies and expert opinions have proved that with gin ownership, one is given a chance to protect themselves in the face of an attack. Furthermore, the paper has shown how the fear of being shot by gun owners have placed away thieves from the homes of gun owners; thus gun ownership improving safety. Gun ownership thus enhances safety.
