Individuals who consume alcohol or are heavy drinkers may witness negative impacts such as damaging their pancreas, high blood pressure leading to heart failure or stroke, and high dependency on the drug. However, immediate consumption may lead to impacts such as slurred speech, drowsiness, vomiting, distorted vision or hearing, and diarrhea. The mentioned effects highly depend on the quantity an individual consumes and the frequency of drinking. Regular drinkers have a high tolerance for alcohol, while the opposite group does not have similar sustenance. Such concepts conceptualize the idea of blood alcohol content (BAC) which is measurable after drinking. Below is the BAC of James.

James is male (as the name suggests) and weighs approximately 85 pounds. He is a young adult, 43 years of age, and enjoys drinking beer. I utilized the BAC calculator to determine the percentage of alcohol in his bloodstream, which the American AddictionCenters posit that is measurable within 30-70 minutes after drinking. I keyed in his gender and weight, then proceeded to key in his consumption whereby James consumed four bottles of beer with no wine or liquor with 9hrs as the time since his first drink. The BAC calculator submitted that the percentage of alcohol in James's system was 0.11%, and it would require him approximately 7 hours to get to 0% BAC. The calculator equally suggested a high likelihood of slurring words and having blurred vision with problems in body control and balance accompanied by impaired mental capacity. According to table 9.3 in X, 0.10% BAC has behavioral effects such as slower reaction times accompanied by impaired motor function, less caution (Hart and Ray, 2018). Such adverse impacts mean James should not attempt operating a vehicle in his state.

The percentage of blood in an individual can differ subject to the time or level of consumption, as illustrated using the case of James. His BAC translates to impacts such as impaired motor function, which can be detrimental for a driver. Therefore, it is important to practice safe drinking to avoid personal adverse impacts and hurting others.
