The link between health/biology and psychology
Studying the link between health/biology and psychology helps us understand how psychological factors influence our health and illness. We are always told about the dangers of smoking, and the importance of moving more, and eating less. Psychology is concerned with the choices we make, which motivates us to follow those instructions to promote health and prevent illnesses. Studying this link will enable us to identify factors that help people to be healthy, cope with chronic conditions, and recover from illness. Health psychologists help people make good choices in their lives that positively impact their health (Brannon & Updegraff, 2013) .
The link between health conditions/healthy lifestyle and mental health
The kind of lifestyle an individual chooses will either increase or decrease the risk of developing mental health problems. A healthy lifestyle is beneficial for an individual's mental health. Therefore, by identifying healthy lifestyle choices concerned with promoting psychological well-being is significant for preventing mental disorders. Consequently, poor mental health also harms an individual's physical health. For one to improve his or her mental health, he or she should maintain a healthy lifestyle, which involves engaging in physical activities, consuming a healthy balanced diet, and avoid smoking (Velten, Wannemüller, & Margraf, 2018) .
