Article Summary
The first article is “ Defining the role of I-Os in R&D” by Whelan and DuVernet (n.d.). Training and development is a critical component of employees’ life cycle. Employees who undergo training and development, according to SIOP, are more productive than those that are less engaged in training. Despite that fact, learning and development are still missing in critical training development publications such as TIP. Incase available, the content is less reflective of training. The emphasis from the article, therefore, is that the Industrial-Organizational Psychology publication can work best with the Leaning and development to facilitate better training publication articles for the corporate industry. In this sense, the authors claim that I-Os can add value to the Learning and development space ( Whelan and DuVernet, n.d).
Significance
SIOP underscores the need for training and development in an employees’ life cycle. It implies that the management should treat with seriousness any matter concerning training and development in the corporate industry. Besides, the authors also acknowledge the publications on training and efforts made by the publications to major in training. The article is good because the authors first give an overview of an issue. They then justify the gap why I-Os are necessary. They come to pinpoint the possible milestone in case people give the I-Os a chance. They conclude by mentioning both similarities and differences between I-O and L&D and reflect on how such differences can be made useful to come up with proper training and development. The limitation is that some sources are outdated.

Summary
The second article is “ (Re) Applying social psychology to organizational work, well ‐ being, and leadership” by Rast III, Axtell & McGlynn (2016). The core of this article is to paint a clear picture of the relationship between organizational behavior and social psychology theory. The article aims to clarify that research studies from each of these fields can be used interchangeably and beneficially for both parties. The justification of the relationship between the two fields is from the literature review of historical documentation and research that links the two fields together ( Rast III, Axtell & McGlynn, 2016).
Significance
The two fields are closely related even though research pinpoints that there is a gap between them. The need to bring the two fields together is the most significant aspect of the research. As a result, the aim is to pinpoint the fact that though these are two areas of study, an organization can use social and psychological research to understand and solve some political, social and organizational matters.
