The study in this article analyses Obama's impact as part of the beneficial consequences of his term as the first African-American president in America. Therefore, the study concentrates on the cognition and behavioral effects of the "Obama effect" on America. As a result, the study's main focus group is the American citizens who are examined to determine the social, political and economic factors that contribute to the Obama effect. By focusing on the American citizens as the main group of study, the authors were able to determine the boundary contexts of the Obama effect on stereotyping, prejudice and how it was beneficial to the social cognition of the African American population. The study is completed by evaluating five articles that provide extensive insight into the potential theoretical and practical implications of the Obama effect.

The outcome of this study proved that Obama's historical success might act as a source of inspiration for many African Americans when faced with stigma-related threats. Thus, the authors concluded that structural based interventions are effective in reducing stigma and its impacts. The approach used in this study compares to other studies as it focuses on the social impacts that Obama’s presidency has had on America. The credibility of the authors is justified by their ability to compare and contrast the results from other studies to make an informed conclusion.
