The social world is an essential aspect of the life of a person especially during the child and adolescent stages. The social world presents norms and standards that shape the growth and adaptability of a child and adolescents in the society. Children face socialization activities such as interacting with the community through early and preparatory schools (DeLamater & Ward, 2013). Admittedly, after growth, the children encounter adolescent stage that reveals their feelings and emotions towards the other gender as they prepare to become young adults. Therefore, the scholar highlights the similarities and differences between the children and adolescents in socialization.

Both the children and adolescents encounter socialization as a means of learning the acceptable social norms and practices in the community. During the age of two to six, a child spends time with other kids under the guidance of a teacher in nursery and kindergarten school (Smetana, Robinson & Rote, 2014). Spending time together is reciprocated during adolescent stage. During the adolescence, boys and girls seem to regroup based on gender and spent time together. The later could result in peer pressure while trying to experiment with new experiences in life just as kids experience for the first time they join the school (DeLamater & Ward, 2013). Moreover, both the kids and the teens encounter times when they are not near reach of their parents.

There exist differences between the socialization process in kids and teens. For instance, during early child development, the kid learns activities that help them prepare for future development such as learning in school while during adolescence stage, the teens experience activities such as being independent and live away from their families. Adolescents experience antisocial behaviors as a result of depression and need to cope up with peer pressure (Smetana, Robinson & Rote, 2014). In conclusion, both similarities and differences exist during the socialization process in both kids and teens.
