By the time that God decided to work with Abram, his name was later changed to Abraham where God commanded him to leave everything behind and move from his homeland. Abraham did not argue with God and obeyed to what God commanded him to do. Due to his obedient nature God gave him amazing promises that were important to Abraham and later to Israel as well (House, & Mitchell, 2007). The three promises of God to Abraham include numerous descendants, land, and blessing for the patriarch and those he encountered.

These promises were so vital to him in the sense that they are directly related to his life. From the promise of numerous descendants, this promise had a deep connection to Abraham since he never had children until his late age. So being promised many descendants who are not only many but righteous too, meant everything to him. God told Abraham that they would be as many as stars and the wicked ones will be cut off. The promise of land was essential to him in the sense that it was the place where his people will live and prosper. The promise of land later crucial to Israel as well because it will belong to them and their generations to come (House, & Mitchell, 2007). The blessing was the third promise to Abraham which was given regarding to the other two promises. It was intended to tell Abraham that the other two promises will be of blessings to all other nations in his name. It was also important to Israel in the sense that they also wanted blessings in their lives.

These promises are what the world is hoping for even as for today. It is clear that people still hope for a land that is blessed and children who are not wicked. Blessings are some of the things that anyone can hope for and be happy to acquire. As the Bible also entails, the people in today's life still hope for God's kingdom and the second coming of Christ as promised in the Bible. This is a sign that people still hope for blessings in their lives and a better tomorrow.
