Part A.
The technology advancement in the past two decades has seen the development of different technological devices in many sectors. In the communication sector, cell phones have experienced an evolution that has enabled the developers to incorporate advanced features, hardware, software, and other aspects, which have seen the costs of cell phone increase. Apple and Android are currently the biggest companies on the market, developing different and popular cell phone models. This paper compares and contrasts the Android and Apple phones based on different features and aspects.
The affordability of Apple phones and Android phones varies depending on the phone model. However, Apple has always maintained high pricing in the market compared to Android. For instance, iPhone X, one of the recent models of Apple, had a starting price of up to $1,000 and the $1,100 for the iPhone 11 Pro Max. Currently, the most affordable Apple phone model phones start as low as $450 for iPhone 8, and $700 for iPhone 11 (Hill, 2019). When it comes to Android phones, it contains a large scale and variety that allow an individual to spend as much as they can afford. For instance, Google's Pixel 4 XL and Samsung's Galaxy Note pricing is as high as most Apple phone pricing. However, Android also has a wide variety of phones from different manufactures that have low pricing and optimized to run on low-end hardware.

When it comes to Apps, both Android and Apple phones have the capability of downloading apps. Apple users can download their Apps from the Apple App Store, while Android users use the Google Play Store to download their Apps. Traditionally, Apple has offered a platform for more developers, but with technological development, Android's share market has developed to compete at the same level as Apple in terms of App development. Battery life and charging is another feature that Android and Apple have similarities and differences. Since there is no common hardware that links the Android and Apple phones, it becomes difficult to compare the two platforms (Vaughan-Nichols, 2018). The Apple phone is designed to utilize the most out of its battery per mAh rating, making them last longer; however, still, other android models such as Samsung and Motorola manufactured phones tend to outlast Apple battery. The similarities that exist between Android and apple in terms of the battery feature are that both models allow the user to view battery powere consumption at a glance, demacated by an app, but the user of Android has the advantage of viewing the estimated remaining battery life (Hill, 2019). Both Android and Apple offer power-saving user modes which extend the phone battery life through the limitation of the phone performance, connectivity, or operation of high-power oriented applications. The fast-charging mode now exists for Apple phones matching the Android in the charging department.
Another feature is the cloud services and interaction. Apple cloud services still have issues with automatic backups and cloud storage capabilities when compared to Android. Android phones have a free 15GB storage offered by Google, which also includes cross-platform support, whereas iCloud only offers 5GB, which only works with Mac, iOS, and Windows. The acquirement of additional storage space for Android is offered at $2 per month for 100GB, while Apple offers 50GB at $1 per month or 200GB at $3 per month. However, the pricing of both Apple and Google for 2TB is the same, with each offering at $10 per month. The interaction with Android's cloud storage is considered easier and effective compared to iCloud.
The seriousness and development of more sophisticated security breaches have had an impact on how both the Android and Apple operating systems are developed. The Google Play Stores offers security protocols in Android phones, with other manufactures such as Samsung engaging in extra efforts to beef up security in their products. However, most Android devices still run software that is years old, which does not have capabilities of conducting speedy updates creating vulnerabilities to security breaches and hacks (Hill, 2019). Currently, several Android manufactures have started to include security features such as FaceID, TouchID, which already exist in Apple phones such as iPhone X. Apple's ability to sustain high security than Android involves tight oversight on apps and ability to push updates out more quickly and to more devices. Apple also has in place encryption mechanisms that protect user privacy by encrypting iMessages and apps. Lastly, both Android and Apple provide a touch screen interface, and both have GPS and Navigation.
Part B.
Did you use the point-by-point or block method to organize your body paragraphs? What made you decide to organize your essay in this way (3-4 sentences)? Sophia says: Consider the ways a comparison/contrast essay can be organized. Which organization did you choose, and why?
The compare and contrast the organization used in the easy is the point-to-point pattern or organization by criteria. Since the items being compared are almost similar, the point-to-point pattern was the best choice. Another reason for using the point-to-point pattern is due to a few characteristics that exist per subject between the items being compared.
In what ways did writing a comparison/contrast essay differ from the Narrative essay you wrote in Touchstone 1? Give specific examples (3-4 sentences). Sophia says: Consider how the structure, point of view, and purpose of the two essays differ.
The compare and construct essay discuss the similarities and differences between two things or concepts, while the narrative essay tells a story concerning a personal experience. The compare and contrast easy can provide unbiased discussion, or attempt to convince the reader about the benefit of one thing or concept. In contrast the narrative easy that provide personal experience written in the first person, which can be a biased discussion.
Remember that the writing process is a recursive process, and your first draft of an essay is rarely your last. What part of the draft did you struggle with (3-4 sentences)? Sophia says: Think about how you could improve the draft if you continued the writing process with revision and editing.
The part of the draft that proved to be difficult to obtain specific points when using the point-to-point method. The improvement of the draft can be made by changing the organization to block method. The changing to block will require the similarities to be grouped together and differences in a different block.
