The instructor said,
Go home and write
a page tonight.
And let that page come out of you—
Then, it will be true.
Seeing the current situation, I wonder why the world became sore
I went to school in this town, and now I am here,
In college, to advance my dreams in a future that is near,
I love to watch the news, and also hear the views,
I hear and see of race struggles,
Are we all not the same?
It is true that we are what we feel, hear, and see.
But in this time, some things should not be,
The racism that we all see,
Is a representation of who we are.
However, what are we not?
We all have red blood and a dream to live.
To live and enjoy the sunset and sunrise,
We all have the same needs and live under the same sky.
Some see while others ignore,
True, ignorance is bliss,
Just blind as belief,
I still have the same friends,
We share no skin color,
But we can be good lovers.
America was on the right path,
Where did we go wrong, I always wonder?
We will always share our borders.
Yet, we grow older,
With racists beliefs still here.
For all that I see, is a reflection of a society with a lot of sins
I and all have been treated to a bizarre scene
A country that celebrates its bliss,
A scene that we may never want to see,
Cause if I were blind, would I be able to see,
The definition and color of my skin,
And yet we find black, white, and green.
The world as we see, is full of hate,
But I do have a simple dream,
Or is it a plea?
And to the world, this is my humble plea
Can we have a day, month, and a year of peace?
A time of harmony from the colors we see.
And these are my peaceful dreams for you and me.
