Plot : Titanic remains an epic and fictional romantic film that features authentic and historical aspects of the time it revels. Debuted in 1997, the film was directed by James Cameron. It is based on the reinvestment of the passenger liner RMS that sunk in 1912, making it among the tragic events that have gone down books of history. The film has a huge reputation that matched its vast budget estimated to be $ 200,000,000 and subsequently winning 11 Academy Awards.

Acting and Characters : In the film, two-star-crossed lovers Rose DeWitt and Jack Dawson fall for each other despite their different social classes, an issue that would erupt a violent uproar equivalent to the cataclysmic destiny suffered by the previously perceived unsinkable ship. The actors of the movie appear to be shallow due to the huge number of people featured in the film, but the plot remains predictable.

Pace: The 194-minute long movie is created flawlessly and well-constructed to depict its spellbinding scenes and paced with a proper flow. The director made the sub-plot in a manner that the audience must see the ship sail and sink and encompasses a human story that comes with a romance involving some of the passengers on board.

Themes and Tone: Besides the romance, the arrogance of the shipbuilders portrays the character’s human side and the courage that they had with the vessel. This is aggravated by the reenactment of the death throes of the terrible sinking that lasted for 150 minutes allowing both its builders and passengers on board to understand the eventuality and consider their actions.

Score: The music in the film is from motion picture which is a composition and orchestration by James Horner, supporting the mood of the movie.

Special Effects: The visual effects are well weighted and balanced coupled with adequate computer animation. As much as the viewer is intellectually aware that they are not watching real ocean liner, Cameron, the director has created an illusionary seamless and convincing film with the special effects that do not call for inappropriate attention.

Production Design: The environment provided in the scenes heightens the atmosphere on camera together with the dominant camera shots are pan down, and medium close-ups.

Cinematography: Camera shots mostly utilized in the scenes in the party to show the intimacy as well as the sinking ship are unique so that the viewer can resonate with the people’s feelings from the mimics. The psychological situations of the main actors are shown by the pan down shots in the flying scene to show how they are proudly safe and united with their social classes notwithstanding as themed in the film. Further, different camera angels have also been utilized in the film from low angles in the sinking scene to show the position of the ship far below the ocean for creation of a vulnerability and hopelessness sense to the viewers.

Editing : Most of the editing depicts a Hollywood mainstream movie with perfect transitions between the scenes. However, some parts are parallel like the scene where the vessel runs into the iceberg. At the same time, Rose is shown trying to release Jack making the editing choppy. Accompanying camera techniques shows special effects as provided by the digital companies that merged 500 scenes of the movie with digital effects. This made it possible to conceal the faces of the stunt individuals who acted in the sinking scenes instead of the intended stars. The starts faces were montaged on the bodies of the actors without the viewers noticing. Also, the different scenes are accompanied by relevant sounds whereby a diegetic sound is employed in the voyage and party scene, and non-diegetic sound accompanies romantic scenes and scenes that feature panic.

Dialogue : The dialogic in the movie makes the conversation believable whereby soundtracks are paused to allow a concentration on dialogues with the tonal variation being dictated by the prevailing events. Undoubtedly, the director proportionally merged drama and history to reinvent the ill-fated voyage.
