The current job description language identifies essential and non- essential tasks that are assigned to a specific job position. A company should be able to describe their essential functions to provide clarity to the job seekers to make it easier for them to determine if they can get the positions and also for the company to get competent employees. Accordingly, the current job description language distinguishes essential and non-essential to avoid discrimination against people with disability and those with special needs. This is because it clarifies about the job to be done so that applicants can ascertain their qualifications. Based on past jobs experiences, companies may distinguish between essential and non-essential functions to ensure that the productivity of the employees is top notch. The majority of companies seek to escape from the accommodation of non-performing employees who would lower their productivity (Zmonserki 2014). By doing this, the company achieves the capacity of maintaining its desired performance standards. 

The current job description language also aims at ensuring that the scope and authority of employees are underlined with regards to the essential and non-essential functions of the job. As such, the roles and responsibilities of the employees do not overlap easily in the organization. Over time, the expectations of the management in different companies have not been achieved; hence, lowering the companies’ performance. This necessitates the management to differentiate between the essential and the non-essential functions in their job description to meet their expectations (Zmonserki 2014). In a nutshell, the current job description language distinguishes the functions of the job to guarantee that the organization recruits high-quality employees that would support its goals and objectives. The current job description language also guides the applicants in knowing their fate based on their qualification level for a particular job.
