In the course of the semester, one of the training methods we looked at was different technology based approaches that companies can use to train their employees. One of the technology-based approaches that fascinated me was E-Learning. It refers to a form of training that can be conducted over the Internet, where organization workers in remote regions can sort through, read and access work information. This method of training has numerous benefits that enable employees to change or update information easily. In the same vein, this approach offers flexibility, as it can be done at the work place or any other location deemed convenient. The trainees have the privilege of sharing the information learnt through discussion groups. Research shows that, this method of training can be slightly effective than classroom-based form of training.
Kristin Constable did an article titled ‘Six Learning and Development Trends to Embrace for Maximum ROI’, and Forbes published it in April 2018. According to the article, technology has created more dynamic opportunities for learning than ever before. Admittedly, organizations ought to embrace the new learning trends in learning, to create a win-wins situation for the company and people in it. In 2016, the Association of Talent Development Based released statistics showing that companies invested 34.1 training hours and $1, 273 per head on training and development (Constable, 2018). In that regard, the article recommends ways in which companies can maximize the return on their training investment and experience huge impact on the end user. It recommends online training as one of the ways of achieving such a goal. According to the article, learning online has gained ground, and this has helped to solve the barriers previously witnessed (Constable, 2018). Although E-learning has its own challenges, especially low completion rates, it has enabled organizations to create rich learning experiences where all employees are not needed one room (Constable, 2018). Online tools such as Facebook groups have enabled companies to create social learning platforms on the Internet, where cross-functional collaboration takes place effectively (Constable, 2018).
