Question 1

Substance abuse affects every member of the family. Hence, it is important that family members be involved in treatment and the general recovery process of the patient. Actually, most patients ailing from substance disorders recover quickly as a result of family mediation. Involving a single member of the family or a concerned important other might effectively suit the process and fortify the entire family, hence, reinforcing and motivating change in a client and enabling them to be completely be attached to the whole recovery process. Family members may be involved in the treatment process by allowing them to learn on the treatment program being used. This gives them a chance to take part in intake recovery planning including consenting attending the recovery lessons of the patient. This gives family members a chance to be aware of the destructive problems with the patient (Robst et al., 2014). More importantly, they get equipped with the knowledge and skill essential in handling their addicted member.

Question 2

According to American Society of Addiction Medicine, treatment of substance abuse disorders constitutes four levels. They include; outpatient treatment, Intensive outpatient treatment, medically monitored intensive inpatient treatment, and medically managed intensive inpatient treatment. Outpatient treatment basically constitutes an office exercise of the patient with the relevant clinicians. The treatment assumes a regular planned session which constitutes less than 8 hours in a week. With regard to patient with disabilities, it is essential that they have planned transport services for them.

Intensive outpatient treatment constitutes planned services where clinicians offer quite a number of AODA treatment services to the patient. The treatment is done on a recurrent basis while following schedules and may also constitute partial hospitalizations (Estreet et al., 2014). Planned transport should be put into consideration for clients with disabilities. Medically monitored intensive treatments constitute the provision of services that assume 24-hr surveillance. This is done in an inpatient environment. On disabled patients, it is essential that modified education materials be present.

Medically managed intensive inpatient treatment constitutes the provision of a 24-hr clinical service to the patient. These services are provided in an acute inpatient environment. Patient with disabilities should attend short treatment sessions and in small groups.
