The interplay of genes, diet and lifestyle choice are crucial factors in your health. The latter should be well balanced mostly on the nutrition part. Food consumed by humans usually contains compounds known as macronutrients, and they often vary across various food types. They include carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, lipids, fibers, vitamins, amino acids, just to mention a few.

Lipids are a class of nutrients or molecules that provide energy when broken down in a process known as lipolysis. The resultant complex constituents are triglycerides, phospholipids, sterols and free fatty acids. Lipids are essential since they are involved in forming the structure of individual cells in the body.

Here we get a complete overview on lipids which encompass fats, phospholipids, and sterols. High-fat plant foods such as nuts, olives, and avocados have no cholesterol and are high in unsaturated fatty acids, and so they don’t predispose one to heart attack disease risk. Unlike high-fat food animals such as dairy products: milk, butter, cheese, and meat are high in saturated fatty acids and cholesterol which tend to increase the risk of developing heart disease. These constituent products i.e. triglycerides are stored in the body primarily in the adipose tissue and also some within the muscle cells which in meat usually referred to as marbling fat.

Cholesterol, though an important precursor in the synthesis of other biologically important steroids in the human body, if consumed in large amounts can lead cardiovascular diseases as evident in obese people. Advise that one to check on their diet to contain essential amino acids since they cannot be synthesized in the body hence the need to be provided for in the diet. Like the case of linoleic acid or omega 6, a major essential amino acid essential for growth and healthy skin. Plant fats are more recommended to include in diets than animals fats since they tend to be unsaturated and stable i.e. plant sterols that usually occur naturally in small amounts in grains, fruits, legumes, and nuts and have health benefits and reduce cholesterol in the body.
