Global warming is the increase in temperature of the earth's surface in the land, water, and the atmosphere (Gore, 2016). It is also referred to as climate change. There has been substantial research evidence such as melting of the polar ice and increase in water levels to prove that global warming is happening. Global warming has become a serious issue and there is the need for the public to intervene and help reduce the environmental impact of global warming.
To reduce the impacts of global warming, it is essential we reuse and recycle the products we use on a daily basis. Every citizen should reduce waste by selecting reusable items such as bottle containers rather than disposable products. Also, we should buy products with minimal packaging to help reduce waste to the environment (Gore, 2016). Most importantly, we need to recycle plastics, papers, and aluminum cans as well as start community programs that promote products recycling. Buying energy-efficient products also help reduce the impact of global warming. When buying cars, it is essential to choose the one that provides a good gas mileage, and this will help to conserve more energy in the environment (Gore, 2016). At home, use energy saving appliances such as the LED light bulbs which are created to give a more natural-looking light even though it uses less energy than the other standard bulbs.

Another way to reduce these impacts of global warming is by planting trees. Trees are a vital component in this issue of global warming. During photosynthesis, trees absorb carbon dioxide and give off oxygen, therefore, if there are many trees it means that there would be less carbon dioxide and more oxygen in the environment. During the lifetime of a tree, it is estimated that it can absorb about one ton of carbon dioxide (Leiserowitz, 2016).
However, as much as we try to control the impacts of global warming some challenges are an obstacle to achieving our goals. There is the disparity between the rich and the poor. The wealth is concentrated in only a small percentage of the people creating inequality in the distribution of opportunities in the society (Karl & Trenberth, 2013). The poor has less impact on any development of reducing the effects of global warming since they are insecure, and this feeling of insecurity has played an essential negative effect to change. The solution to such is that the government should implement important policies, which will give financial security and build confidence among the citizens. Another challenge is the governments have concentrated continuously on the investment of economic growth without considering the adverse effects that might occur in the environment. The economic impacts of the natural disasters are due to the pollutions which affect the lives of the citizens. For example, the manufacturing industry directs their smoke waste to the atmosphere causing the greenhouse effect. The solution to this the government should introduce necessary regulations to prevent projects that are harmful to the environment.
In conclusion, global warming is real, and it has adverse effects on the environment. As a community in Lowa, we need to adhere to the proposed ways to help reduce the impacts of global warming. This is by reusing and recycling products, use energy saving appliances and planting trees among many others. Despite the challenges that we face, when the government applies the solutions to the problems we will be a step further in eradicating global warming.
