Mental disorder is a common problem in the society that affects nearly over 50% of the population at one point in life. Most of the cases are seldom recognized and therefore are undiagnosed and go untreated (McNally, 2011). In other instances, those who report to the medical facilities for a checkup as having a mental illness does not meet the criteria or the standards set by theoretical models. These two extremes indicate that the real victims of mental disorders are not treated while those who are not mentally ill receive erroneous treatments resulting in the wastage of resources on wrong patients.
Sunshine Center for Mental Health will target the vulnerable group suffering from mental illnesses. This will be achieved through the creation of public awareness through education, advertisements, and events to educate the public on who qualifies for mental health checkup and treatment. The main target audience will be people in the middle age who are having families. This category of people often undergoes psychological trauma resulting from life demands or unmet duties.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
The facility will also target clients of a younger generation. Mood disorders have been found to be a great illness among the adolescents who form a good percentage of the society’s population. Diagnosis of the adolescents and the adults have been found to produce conflicting results. Clinicians are reported giving multiple diagnoses at different stages of development of a single individual for the same symptoms observed earlier on (Mondimore & Kelly, 2015). This kind of diagnosis is confusing which makes the case of the adolescents a special one to Sunshine Center for Mental Health.
Methods of Treatment
Sunshine Center for Mental Health had indicated earlier on that it will adopt psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy approaches as the basic methodology of treatment. Several models have been advanced to explain the cause of mental disorders such as mood disorders. The models include biological models, psychological model, sociocultural models, and biopsychosocial models (Feldman, 2014). A clear understanding of these models demands an adoption of an approach that will be holistic in nature.
The use of psychotherapy will address the problem of mood disorder from the psychological causes while the use of pharmacotherapy will deal with biological causes such as the nervous system. Moreover, additional methods such as religion and leisure activities will also be incorporated but psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy will be the backbone remedies.
