Getting individuals to act as members of a group is a vital step at having a functional team. As such, I will build my team from members who have similar interests. I will use a strategic system of leadership and management when creating the team. This first deals with identifying a certain skill set that all my team members have to have. I will choose members who have good time management skills and organizational awareness (Almost et al., 2016). These two skills will ensure members keep time and stick to the goal of identifying how the music room will impact patients. I will also look for members who have good communication and problem-solving skills (Almost et al., 2016). An interdisciplinary team that communicates well with each other has the potential to excel, especially if they are good at solving problems.
When delegating tasks, I will look into what the task entails and cross-check it with what kind of employee skills the task requires. I will, therefore, assign employees tasks that they are qualified for using this criterion. I believe that this is the best way to assign and delegate tasks as it ensures the competent individuals take charge of areas that they are best suited for. I plan on using the goal-setting theory in forming and managing the team. A goal-setting theory will allow me to set challenging goals for each member and the team as a whole that will contribute to successful research (Ledlow & Stephens, 2018). Conflict is inevitable in any team or group. As a team leader, it is important to manage conflict within the group to ensure it fulfills its tasks. I will use a devil’s advocate approach when dealing with conflict in the group (Ledlow & Stephens, 2018). Whenever conflict arises, I will look at both parties impartially and determine who is at fault. I will then ask members involved to meet then we can come up with an amicable resolution for the issue.
