The mechanisms that have been applied by numerous teachers to positively manage classes have been declared as necessary preconditions that promote effectiveness in teaching. However, some issues have negatively affected classroom management these include student conduct and discipline (Kelly, 2017). In the recent years, schools have been struggling with issues of discipline. this is mainly as a result of the lack of a strategic intervention that can help them handle all discipline issues and also plan on how these discipline issues will be dealt with in the future. This essay defines methods which teachers in learning institutions should use to deal with bad behaviour in classrooms.
Discipline with dignity, this is one of the methods that can be applied when dealing with bad behaviour in classrooms. This mechanism entails that a student requires motivation and insight for more positive alterations in their behaviour. This mechanism also outlines that every teacher’s goal should be to impact change. For one to really motivate the students towards change, they should first be made to want the change. Discipline with dignity is able to bring about change effectively while applying the following methods; building connections and laying the groundwork. Building connections entails that teachers should take as much time as possible to develop and build good relationships with the learners in class. The impact is that the strength of the relations between the children and the teacher will result into a reduction of discipline issues. This method outlines that once teachers get to know the students they are teaching, the students will become compliant to what the teacher says and will be reluctant in trying to perform any act that would compromise the relationship between the teacher and the students.

The next method is laying the groundwork. This method outlines that learning institutions should let the students aid in developing school rules that are in accordance to the principles of the school. This method also promotes the view that power struggles between the students and teachers should be discouraged and that students should take responsibility for the acts they have committed (Delisio, 2011).
It is clearly evident that discipline problems affect both new and experienced teachers. However, in order to solve these menace teachers should come up with classroom management plans and discipline plans. The most sought after discipline plan is called discipline with dignity and is highly effective. Discipline in students should be carried out carefully and correctly.
