Teachers are always making efforts towards ensuring the classrooms remain culturally sensitive. They always ensure that the lesson plans have captured information on diversity within communities (Morris & Mims, 1999). To ensure that the classroom environment remains cultural sensitive throughout the year, teachers can employ numerous approaches.

Teachers should create a multicultural surrounding within classroom. To achieve this, they ensure that all the programs and subjects embrace multicultural education. All academic areas within the school can be used to promote multicultural awareness, especially in language arts, geography, social studies, science and mathematics (Morris & Mims, 1999). The classroom surrounding the learners should reflect diversity. They should use pictures, posters and maps that have various people from various customs and places. Another way a teacher can ensure a culturally responsive environment is made throughout the year is by involving learners (Morris & Mims, 1999). Teachers should ensure students are introduced to multicultural studies and make them curious to learn about heritage of other people. However, teachers should remain vigilant to avoid using ethnic and racial stereotypes, and instead use other means of making learners understand a certain concept.

To encourage families to participate regularly in creating a culturally responsive environment throughout the year, teachers can involve them in making of school decisions, and especially regarding the development of children and their education (Goodman & Hooks, 2016). Teachers can decide to conduct interviews between learners and their families to know their talents, interests and roles in communities and homes, and languages they prefer using in communicating. Furthermore, families can be involved by conducting home visits, which will enable the teachers to know what influences students in their lives. By observing the way families live and care for each other will enable teachers to know what to include I the academic environments (Goodman & Hooks, 2016).

Conclusively, it is possible to establish culturally responsive environments for children and families that embrace diversity within the classroom all year round. Teachers can use school subjects and programs to ensure all cultures are promoted and embraced. They can engage families through inviting them in school decision making, that mostly focus on children development.
