There is a significant difference between theory and practice as many people may suggest. However, this might not be the case. Theory and practice accompany and complement each other in real life situations. Theories are mostly ideas and thoughts that allow people to understand things and predict what might happen in the future. Practical results from the theoretical ideas after transforming the ideas and thoughts into tangible elements. Theories are important as they directly affect the outcome of the practices. Theories are the basis of any research conducted and they help the researchers to support and defend their outcomes.

In this reaction paper, four members, A, B, C, and D are in deep conversation about how they view theory and practice in their day-to-day life. Member A states that college and university professors make the theories sound very good in contrary to what most people expect in real life situation. Member A proceeds to comment that although some research involving theories have useful findings, a large portion of it could turn out to an ivory tower. Member B supports member A and comments that even though the theoretical research findings might be useful, it just takes a matter of common sense for some outcomes to be implemented and thus some research should not be heavily funded as they are just self-explanatory. This member supports the facts buy highlighting that there is no need to invest heavily in finding out whether the more time students spend in class could improve their scores. This should be the logic and should not be even researched on.

Member C is on the take that some research that involves class work and tutors have some significant influence. However, the historical and philosophical research findings are way too far from reality. Member C argument is based on scientific theoretical research which is believed to be more vivid and more meaningful in the classroom for both the students and the teachers.

Member D, who is a professor, terms the views of the other members on research as to be dwelling so much on the usefulness as a right idea. This member argues that a research outcome should not always address on how to do things or what things need to be done for a particular life problem. Based on this comment by member D, it isby and agreeable to conform with this member.

There are different ways in which scholarships and research in the education system might relate to educational practice. ‘What to do’ or ‘how to do’ are not the only primary outcomes to be expected in research. The research findings can as well help to create awareness to the society of the items that could not be otherwise be seen or interpreted using physical methods. Research findings could also provide a historical point of view that could lead to innovation as it helps to keep and trace records of events and things that have been happening.

Research findings could be used as a mirror to the society to compare what the societ is doing to what is expected by providing a visualization of good and bad ideas being executed in the society. These researches could provide a professional point of view on items that make humanity more of education factory technicians. Member A thinks that all the theories taught in class find no room in the real-life situation as one could become what they want without being guided by the outcomes of the theories they learned in class. This member has thoughts that any theory taught in class should find its way into real-life situations.

The curriculum and school research should not be typically expected to tell people what to do or how to do certain things. The theories should educate people on how to utilize the aspects of thinking aloud to come up with real-life solutions. The research findings should be aimed at providing the basis for practical aspects that follow after. With theory, the process of finding solutions to the problems facing the community should not be as complicated as without the theory at hand.

Some lessons learned from the book will significantly assist one to become a good teacher in the sense that they will understand the importance of theoretical research and practices. In addition to that, it will enable one to evaluate the data and draw a meaningful conclusion from it that gives a somewhat professional direction and thus avoiding interpreting research findings as just an ivory tower.
