Many arguments have been raised about what is actually considered normal behavior and abnormal behavior. According to Ricon et al. (2017) , norm is basically a representative of an average aspect of behavior. In school, a ‘‘typical’’ child would often perform within a given standard deviation of the total mean of all children’s overall performance. In simple terms, the difference on either side of the given mean represents the largest part of the drawn curve of the sum population. In regards to social behavior, typical children can be termed as those with the ability to talk in complete sentences as compared to their peers of the same age. Nevertheless, this definition is often dependent on a given time and a certain culture. In simple terms, normal is usually used to describe one’s behavior that tends to conform to the most common behavior in a given society. It also important to note that normality often tends to vary from one person to another, situations or even places among other things. This is because all humans do not often share common features. Moreover, our brains parts such as the cerebellum, the amygdale as well as the basal ganglia tend to work relatively different, varying from person to another . As a result as, normality is sometimes perceived as a good thing while abnormality on the other hand, is seen as a bad thing. Many are the times when someone being perceived as normal or rather not normal is faced with social ramifications, such as being included or even excluded or worst still forced to deal with stigmatization from the larger society ( Wan, 2017).
Over time, many people have had the misconception that special education is simply a water’-down education meant for the ‘‘abnormal children’’. However, this is completely incorrect. As a matter of fact, both children in regular education and special education benefits from tools that help shape their behavior as humans to help fit in the larger society. Though in most cases children with special needs will need a more intensive and detailed behavior plan, theses plans are key in motivating both students when it comes to modeling of behavior. Importantly, the plans are not only necessarily meant to correct abnormal behaviors in children but are also rather created to encourage and cultivate normal behavior in students ( Kirimoglu et al., 216) .
