The author of the piece is intricately in touch with nature and its elements; a significant percentage of the image is covered by elements of nature, including clouds, a tree, and falling leaves. The piece has a natural context, detailed a calm situation, and a withering surrounding: The sky, reflecting a tree that has withered almost all its leaves. Notably, the piece is an abstract image intended for a general audience and those significantly in touch with nature. The author's point of view is that, just like the tree shedding its leaves under the clear sky, calm weather, and the brilliant sun, one can too can be calm in withering situations. Also, a wall is positioned adjacent to the tree; one might perceive that the tree was planted near the wall. The photographer mainly wants his or her audience to admire the aesthetics that arises from the photo, but the image critics can find an in-depth angle to analyze it. While the visual cannot only be bound to its aesthetic appeal, we will further analyze the image composition, purpose, and rhetoric appeal.

How is the Image Composed to Produce a Specific Effect?

The image provided details blue sky, a tree, with withering leaves against a wall. The blue skies give a reflective surface of the elements in the photo, while the tree and clouds cover a significant portion of the image. Additionally, the author captured the leaves as there are floating in the air on their way to the ground. The clouds in the background and the wall on the foreground give the image a sharp contrast due to their bright color. On the sunlit sections of the tree, we can see an array of branches and innumerable twigs with no leaves. The tree trunk has cast a large shadow indicating the sun is in the opposite direction. Shadows in a visual image are essential as they help describe the form and features of the image. The effective usage of shadows in the visual image has created a natural contrast and depth, conveys, and provides a dominant compositional element in the photography. While considering the positioning of the sky, the image has been taken at a lower angle, which makes the image look larger. Also, we can tell that the photographer was on one side of the wall while taking the picture.

The reflection from the sky makes the image leverages on subjects to look distinct. Furthermore, the author has deliberately angled the image to capture the tree against the sky. From this, the viewers can tell the precise period when the photograph was taken, that is, during the fall. Additionally, the author achieved an excellent photograph with adequate lighting that presents sharp outlines of the clouds and captivating highlights of the tree. In realizing the best look, the image captures a state of tranquil, thus giving the perfect mirror reflection of the trees and clouds. The picture has embraced simplicity through abstraction, focusing on a few visually lighter elements that eliminate confusion from the interpretation process. Notably, the image has a comprehensible structural design, striking a balance between order, placement, and colors. Besides, the image includes elements of the mystery and intrigue to initiate emotional responses from the target audience.

What Type of Rhetorical Appeals Does the Author Make in His Argument? Are Those Rhetorical Appeals Successful? Why or Why Not?

The author of the image is intricately in touch with nature and its elements—the image with an experience of traversing alienated natural surroundings detailed with trees that are shedding their leaves. The author establishes his authority from within the image, distinctly capturing elements of nature with utmost simplicity, composition, harmony, and mystery. At first, the image looks a little bit confusing and clattered. Still, as one begins to implement abstraction, they begin to have emotional responses to the mysterious and intriguing image. Even without considering the author, the target audience can appreciate the complex but intricate image. The author's argument tries to elicit emotions of calmness even while facing withering and cloudy circumstances since there is always a way out of the situation, no matter how little or trivial the way might be.

The logical argument established in the image can be delineated by looking into the different elements of nature detailed. First, the image captures a cloudy day with a tree whose leaves are all withered, deducing that one can always be subject to difficult circumstances whereby even the little hopes the person clings to fades away. Secondly, the image captures a tree with falling leaves, which embodies how life can be short-lived. A while ago, the tree was blossoming; probably it bore fruits, so when the fall season comes, it sheds off its leaves, leaving it bare. From this scenario, we can deduce that there is time for everything, so when life offers us a chance, individuals should maximize it to the fullest. Finally, on the upper end of the image, near the tree trunk, we can see a wall, the viewer can perceive it as an obstruction. The wall is an obstacle in many ways for the tree; it prevents it from sprouting to the desired width. Also, it obstructs maximum sunlight from reaching the tree. Like the tree, individuals can face difficulty or stumbling blocks to their intended destination; however, that should not steal one's peace and composure.
