The observation that drawing is a tool to be used in service to other artistic media is not true; drawing is a work of art in its right. Henry Sayre's conclusion that drawing was initially not considered a work of art on its own, but by the end of the renaissance is was acknowledged to have an immediacy and vitality that revealed the artist's personality is quite apt. Drawings represent the direct and spontaneous expression of the artist. I believe that it portrays the true spirit of the artist. Drawing is a form of art that allows the creator to visually articulate through the detailed exploration of form, laying out of composition, or swift notation. Any idea of art, be it a sculpture or painting is forts embodied in the sketch or drawing. It is here that the artist puts his/her creative spirit.

It is true that there is good art that is worthy of museum exhibition and other visualizations that may not be considered art. The first characteristic that delineates good art from bad art is the beauty. Although beauty is subjective, individuals from the same social context usually agree on work of art that is beautiful. The beauty in art is instinctive because it captivates the viewer ( Tolstoy & Maude, 1996) . The characteristics of art that appeal include texture, symmetry, repeating shapes, and colors. Another characteristic of good art is inherent meaning. Art can create emotions, challenge preconceived ideas or make political statements. Good art tells a story, reference other forms of art, or make a statement. Furthermore, food art can be a metaphor or representational. Finally, food art is unique. Uniqueness refers to what is portrayed and how it is portrayed in the art.
