Internet censorship is necessary because it will enable the authorities in curbing ability of the society to easily access and exploit harmful information. According to Poetker (2019), the internet is an unchartered territory comprising of several users and a wide range of information database. People get to access simple information on how to conduct a specific activity to some in-depth data about how dangerous weapons like explosives can be created. Such information can significantly contribute to a country in destabilizing the peace of a country as criminals can easily commit crimes without incurring huge costs. Hence, internet censorship will enable the government to regulate weapons produced in the country and their use.

Internet censorship can also play an essential role in regulating the nature of information shared on various platforms, which will eventually protect users from fraudulent activities. The internet has played an essential role because it facilitates spread of information across the globe and enhances accessibility. However, there are no measures to regulate credibility of the information and recipients are solely left to conduct their due diligence. It is this perspective that have made several people subjects of fraudulent activities. Criminals coerce people to engage in business activities that do not exist and people who had good intentions lose their money. Consequently, implementing rules and policies that can help in controlling what is shared will ensure that majority of shared information is credible for consumption and protect people.

Internet censorship will also contribute in protecting political interests in countries at the risk of engaging in civil wars. Every country has norms, policies, and a culture surrounding its political activities. Nevertheless, the internet creates exposure on what happens in the rest of the world concerning political activities. Therefore, the internet censorship creates the right procedure that will help the government regulate information that its citizens will access (The Guardian, 2017). The measure is vital because it will help in ensuring that people do not share information that risks destabilizing the country. Nevertheless, the government should ensure that it does not wrongfully use the tool to suppress people from expressing their opinions, especially in democratic countries.

Internet censorship is an essential practice since it enables the government to protect its citizens from harmful information, fraudulent activities, and facilitate politically right information. The measures are essential in keep countries stable and secure amidst the access to information that can easily contribute to ruining a country. Moreover, the measure is essential because it enables citizens of a country to abide with their culture by observing their norms and values as they interact through the various media platforms. Subsequently, it is important to have government’s integrate measures that will facilitate integration of internet censorship due to the multiple benefits it presents a nation.
