Individuals also admit that legalizing Marijuana implies that there are high chances of overdose and more health implication to the citizens, which is a point that the lawmakers should observe while dealing with the issue.

C. The government is hindering its economic progress by criminalizing a stable source of income to its citizens by criminalizing marijuana while ignoring its economic benefits. For instance, the drug can be a source of revenue to the Federal government.

D. The governments need to legalize Marijuana because of its health and economic benefits. For example, judging from the United Nations statistics that place the marijuana users in the United States at 94 million people, legalizing the drug does not have a negative impact on the populatyion (Wang et al., 2019).

Transition: There is a need for the government to legalize Marijuana

II. BODY

The government needs money for its stability (Wang et al., 2019).

It is difficult to stop more than 3.8% world population from smoking Marijuana as many countries have tried but always fail. However, the country can use the billions it uses on countering marijuana into other economic sectore. Why should the government declare marijuana illegal yet it can get revenue from it? Therefore, the government should stop fighting a losing battle and legalize marijuana as there is a need to tap into the anti-marijuana campaign funds and use it to stabilize the economy. For example, the government should use the money to house the homeless people. Also, the federal government should cut down expenditure it uses on fighting against marijuana and take advantage of its benefits. For instance, the policy makers should legalize marijuana and impose heavy taxes on it so that it gets extra revenue for other sectors. The move will create stability in the economy; hence, the government needs to use every opportunity available to ensure that the economy is stable as long as such opportunity has more advantages than a disadvantage to the population. For instance, the federal government should take advantage of marijuana to increase its income.

There is a need for employment for the youths (Wang et al., 2019). Legalizing marijuana will create more jobs, and also reduce the cost of life and healthcare for the citizens; thus, stabilize the country’s economy. Marijuana business creates employment for many people, and this is beneficial for the government as investors will employ citizens in different positions; hence, reduce unemployment. For instance, a study conducted by the Marijuana Policy Group concluded that Colorado’s legalized pot industry created 18,000 jobs and this generates nearly $2 billion in the economy (Hauser et al., 2018).

The government needs a healthy population for its growth

There is a need to create a healthy community to contribute positively to the economy. It means that legalizing marijuana is the best option because with it comes more economic stability through taxation, increase income through the sale of marijuana; thus, positive growth due to a helthy population. For instance, the income from the drug will enable citizens to earn money which helps them take care of there basic and secondary needs.

Transition: Rather than criminalizing Marijuana, it would be better to consider legalizing it to create stability in the economy .

The government can save a lot of money by legalizing Marijuana

A . In the United States, the total cost of criminalizing Marijuana has hit staggering $820 billion, which is a massive amount of money that the government can invest in other areas in the country in case the drug becomes legal. For instance, San Francisco state saves a lot of money after legalizing marijuana as it saves approximately $14,000 per offender. Also, statistic from the United Nations states that the United States can save roughly $40 billion by legalizing marijuana (Giovenco et al., 2018). Therefore, the benefits of legalizing the drug overweighs its negative effects.

B . Legalizing marijuana will attract investors and create employment. Marijuana legalization increase jobs in the country and this is something the government needs to invest in to ensure that the economy is stable. For instance, a study conducted by the Marijuana Policy Group concluded that Colorado’s legalized pot industry created 18,000 jobs and this generates nearly $2 billion in the economy (Hauser et al., 2018). Also, marijuana also bolsters other business opportunity and entrepreneur, and this is critical in boosting the economy.

Legalizing Marijuana will reduce the rate of addiction

A. Research proves that through legalizing Marijuana, the rate of its abuse will decrease than when it is illegal as there are countries which have done well by legalizing drugs. For example, Portugal reduced the rate of drug abuse by half after legalizing marijuana and treating it as a disease rather than criminal activity (Wiens et al., 2018). Other countries, such as the Netherlands have also achieved marijuana abuse reduction by legalizing Marijuana. Therefore, the United States should borrow a leaf from the countries by legalizing marijuana to reduce its addiction abd abuse.

Transition: A country where people are free to trade in marijuana market would be a prosperous country

It would be a country a stable country with healthy people, and jobs creation and a general stability

Imagine a future where the country generates nearly more than $820 billion by declaring marijuana legal. Such are times when the country will stabilize its healthcare and also will reduce its expenditure because the government will pump the billions to other important areas of economy (Goldberg, 2019). For instance, the government can fund youth empowerment projects with the money it spares and the revenue from marijuana, which strengthens its stability by reducing the unemployment rate. Hence, the government should legalize marijuana for stability and job creation.

It will be a country where the economy is stable

Imagine the USA where marijuana is legal, and people trade in this sector like any other commodity. Also, imagine the amount of income or tax the country will generate from the marijuana trade and how many people will get jobs when the government decides to legalize Marijuana. It means legalizing marijuana has economic benefits; hence, the government should consider the move. For instance, the legalization will create more jobs, attract investors, and increase revenue from businesses, which will highly contribute to the country’s economic stability.

Conclusion: Instead of criminalizing and losing the battle, the government should legalize Marijuana and win the battle.

Legalizing Marijuana is the best option for the government because:

It will come with a lot of benefits both economic and health.

It creates stability with regards to all economic sectors like housing among others.

The government need to withdraw the legal action on Marijuana because it will earn revenue from the drug.

Legalizing marijuana is the best option for the government and users because of its positive impact to the American population.
