Purpose
This plan is developed for safety and health training of employees at St Stephen College. This training is designed to assist employees to integrate safety procedures in their tasks and implement safety procedure and policy. The plan identifies relevant training strategies and activities needed to attain desired learning outcome when integrating safety procedures in their tasks.
Audience
This training is designed for the following stakeholders:
New employees
New employees joining the institution must be given safety information within a week of employment. A brief training by safety department officer will communicate injury procedures, hazard communication, emergency procedures, and training on safety.

Existing employees
Training employees on safety is critical in developing safety awareness and preventing accidents. Training is necessary to both new employees and existing ones in order to perform jobs safely and efficiently.
Supervisors
Supervisors also require education and training in order to acquire knowledge and skills on safety management techniques to act as role models and ensure that employees perform their duties safely and efficiently. It is also important to retrain them at various times in order to reinforce safety standards and procedures and maintain proficiency in performing tasks.
Training objectives
The following are the main objectives of training:
To generate commitment from employees to support health and safety program.
To inform employees about safety and health policies, standards, and procedures
Review safety work procedures unique to specific job and how these procedures protect employees against dangers and risks
Teach employees about necessity, use, and maintenance of personal protective equipment
Train employees on appropriate course of action in the event of emergencies in the workplace.
Scope
Employees and managers who require training on workplace safety will be included ‘in scope’ for training development
Training will be limited to occupational health and safety and anything else is ‘out of scope’ for this training plan
Employee orientation training, specialized training, and remedial training will be covered by this plan
Assumptions
This training plan is based on training needs of employees based on information gathered through workshops and meetings
This plan is also based on laws and regulations on occupational health and safety
On-site resources will be considered for training development materials
Dependencies
The success of this training program will depend on the following:
Access to organizational resources for the input and reviewing of the course outlines
Availability of training materials
Availability of training facilities such as rooms, blackboards, and flip charts
Possible risks
Employees may want more training than what is required
Changes to training in developmental and delivery stages
Training approach and methods
Blended training will be used to help in retaining learning and meet the needs of training. This will entail instructor led training, e-learning and job aids
