Supporting Point 1

Young adults suffer more from mental health issues than any other age group in the population.

A paper by Kanasi, Ayilavarapu, and Jones on the biology of aging shows that older individuals suffer from the most physical illnesses compared to younger populations. In contrast, younger populations suffer from more mental health issues (Kanasi, Ayilavarapu, & Jones, 2016).

There is, therefore, a need for mental health to be a focus when treating this age group.

Supporting Point 2

Although relatively few young adults report long-term physical health issues or disabilities, there are various health issues attributed to this population regarding mental health.

Therefore, it would still remain cost-effective to focus on the mental health of this population, as there is relatively little spending on physical health in this age group.

Supporting Point 3

There is a need to significantly focus on effectively treating their mental health to improve this population's health outcomes significantly.

With mental health playing such a big role in this population's health status, addressing psychological health would have a large impact on their public health outcomes.

Conclusion

Professional teams' development catering specifically to young adult mental health at health facilities would efficiently address this health concern.

Section 2: Working Thesis Statement

With mental health issues affecting the young adult population significantly, health institutions need to consider creating interprofessional health teams at their facilities to tackle young adult mental health more efficiently and more cost-effectively.

Section 3: Starting Draft

Introduction

Mental health is an issue affecting young adults more than any other part of the population. Creating teams, policies, and strategies that specifically focus on young adult mental health at health facilities will improve these patients' health outcomes and improve the effectiveness and cost-efficiency of treatment for such cases.

Young adults have more mental health issues than the elderly. As the US populations’ average age increases, it is becoming more and more common to find older adults rather than younger adults in medical wards (Kanasi, Ayilavarapu, & Jones, 2016). That is because it is more common for older adults to suffer from physical illnesses than younger adults. However, conversely, it is more common for young adults to suffer from mental illness than older adults. Thus, there should be less focus on physical care than mental health care for this age group. There is, therefore, a need for mental health to be a focus when treating this age group. Furthermore, the minimized spending on physical care for this age group means that efforts and funding can be allocated towards mental health policy and care instead.

Section 4: Feedback Reflection

Previous feedback that I received stated that I should review a short document – Strayer University Writing Standards – to improve my writing style, and sources were specifically mentioned. It was also recommended that I review a sample paper using SWS to see how the standards are applied. Otherwise, the rest of my document was deemed to be excellent.

I used the feedback to better format my Source List section and my Title Page. The feedback will help me with formatting in the future.
