This fair day was chosen because health is very important to the community. There are many people battling with health conditions that can be improved through health education and support. Healthy practices and good nutrition prevents health problems in the future. It is cheaper to have healthy practices and good nutrition than to manage most health problems. The fair day is meant to educate/enlighten the community on healthy practices and encourage them to live healthy lifestyles geared towards good health. It was also chosen because most people in my local community are ignorant about their health. There are many cases of obesity and drug abuse in my community.

The fair day will involve approximately 1000 attendees, from within the neighbourhood, who will come to learn more on how to have healthy practices and benefit from the fair day. It will also involve 40 volunteers from the nearby hospital, who include 10 registered nurses, 2 nutritionists, 3 doctors and 25 medical students. Their roles will be to perform free health check-ups for instance blood pressure, massages, nutritional counselling and handle any health issues which may need professional attention. It will also involve 100 students from our school, whose role will be to usher the visitors as well as educate them in liaison with qualified medics. Some students will also be responsible for collection of funds and designing of banners.

` The planning for this event stated 6 months prior to the date of the event. The first step of planning is setting up committees and subcommittees (Fung, 2015). The committee then creates a work plan and distribution of the workload and ensuring support from the community. There will also be some sub-committees such as Pre- and post-event subcommittee. The sub-committee will be responsible for setting up logistics operating and breaking the event. They will also help in identifying staffing needs and work closely with the other subcommittees. The scheduling subcommittee will schedule staff, volunteers and attendees during the D-day. They will also be responsible for ensuring that all supplies reach the venue on time. For instance, the test kits, health literatures, food table’s signs for venues, emergency supplies and fliers. The vendors’ sub-committee will seek for vendors and determine their needs as well as assist them to setup their booths.

People working in different booths will be updated on what exactly they are expected to do. They will also have ample time to practice their skills and machines. Roles will be assigned based on individual’s academic qualifications and strengths. Those who are not academically qualified will be linked to the academically qualified staff in order to assist them.

By completing this assignment, It is evident that there is a real need in my local community for a health nutrition day fair. It is also goes without saying that good interpersonal skills and communication skills are key in building strong relationship with people (Cordoza, 2019). I also have learnt that a day fair is a great platform for my student to participate in makings positive impact in the society while still learning.

This exercise has taught me the importance of good and timely planning and organisation of an event. Moreover, I can also confidentiality attest to the fact that teamwork is key, for the success of such an event. Each participant has to be team player and has a special role to play. When the team work together, with a similar goal in mind, then chances of being successful are almost guaranteed.

This exercise has also taught me that advertisement and communication are imperative in the success of such an event. The use of emails, flyers, socials media, magazines and word of mouth reached out to many participants in the event. It is also important for one to get feedback from the audience concerning the event. This allows one to identify strong points, weaknesses and also to rectify mistakes in the future planning of such an event.
