Special education is an area of immense interest among research experts and education policy makers. In recent years, there has been a shift in the trends of special education. In this context, the current paper identifies two of these trends and explains the way they should be incorporated in the efforts to enhance the success in the field of special education.
The first trend is the incorporation of technology in the learning processes of individual with special needs. Recent years have seen the development of highly effective technological infrastructure that can be used to aid the learning processes of students with special needs (Lynch, 2013). The use of technology can maximize the possibilities that have not been attained before, an aspect that could be a positive improvement to the quest of educating those with special needs. The second trend has been the concerted research efforts in early detection of special. Recent years have seen research efforts being directed at determining whether an individual has special needs in their earliest instances of their lives (Lynch, 2013). Research has revealed that early detection of special needs could be effective in the delivery of special needs education to individuals. Research efforts today focus on the youngest individual with the aim of understanding the way special needs could be adjusted in a way that is effective in a special needs education perspective.
Special needs remains an important aspect of the inclusion efforts being incorporated in the field of education. As such, it is important that emerging issues be addressed in the earliest instances with the aim of eliminating any negatives that could be realized. Finally, it is important for every person to play an active role in influencing positively the issues defining special education needs.
