In a number of cases, children are forcibly separated from their guardians and sent to foster care. In other situations, the same individuals are taken away from abusive parents with an intention of ascertaining that they get to live a better life. This does not always happen since some of them end up being abused in foster care instead of getting the protection that they desire. Cases of abuse among immigrant children living in foster care have become very common. The Latino immigrant children are among some of the individuals who experience a lot of abuse as will be illustrated in this analysis.

In relation to the abuse of Latin immigrant children, one of the assumptions that is often made is the differing cultures that exist, since most of the occurrences are based on western experiences without due consideration of other cultures ( Wheeler, Ampadu & Wangari, 2002 ). Also, there is an assumption that such individuals lack spiritual development which further translates to the problems they face. Besides, inadequacy in cultural sensitivity and disproportionality of Latino children is also responsible for the woes they face in foster care.

The assumption of Levinson`s theory is not relevant to the Latino children`s development since it mainly focuses on transition into adulthood from 17 years of age ( Mackey, 2015 ). On the contrary, Neugarten`s theory holds a lot of significance since she proposes the idea that there are developmental expectations that emerge from each group of individuals. In this case, the abuse of the Latino children is likely to affect their self-esteem to a large extent which translates to additional problems in their adulthood.

One of the social work practice recommendation based at the micro, macro and mezzo levels is the essence of social workers conducting regular checks on children in foster care irrespective of their identity, racial or ethnic affiliation (Hargrow, 2001) . There needs to be more involvement in order to establish the problem faced by all groups of individuals. This implies that the workers have to learn on the best way of engaging the children so that they can confide in them in the event that they are experiencing any challenges. This would assist in ridding of abuse in foster care facilities.
