Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) refers to a disease whereby a patient finds it difficult to remain attentive and to control their impulsive behaviors. Also, in some cases, patients report restlessness and are continuously active (Cortese & Tessari, 2017). Connectedly, the essay discusses ADHD, the diagnostic criteria and tools, ramifications over and misdiagnosis of the disease, and a combination of other treatment options. 

ADHD has no known cure, although there are available treatments that can significantly assist the patient in reducing the symptoms of the disease. Primarily, the condition is managed through medications, patient training, and medication, therapy as well as a combination of other treatments. The diagnostic criteria significantly depend on the patient’s ability to focus while learning or working. The first tool for ADHD treatment if administering stimulants for treatment (Cortese & Tessari, 2017). Also, non-stimulant drugs may be used, although they take a long time to deliver the intended effect.

Moreover, antidepressants that impact brain chemicals such as dopamine and norepinephrine, commonly called tricyclics, may be used in adults. Education and training are essential in managing the disorder. Parents and guardians are trained on the need to encourage rewards in positive behaviors. Stress management and support groups can significantly assist in leading the disease. 

Diagnosis of ADHD remains controversial as there are numerous areas of subjectivity that have recently been identified. Ramifications of misdiagnosis are associated with the development of stereotypical symptoms among children diagnosed with the disorder (Cortese & Tessari, 2017). Also, the child may develop implications in school as they find it difficult to recover completely. 

Additionally, people with ADHD disease are associated with defiant and aggressive behavior, particularly among kids that develop their symptoms. This includes refusing to follow instructions, emotional outbursts when requested to handle specific tasks (Cortese & Tessari, 2017). Furthermore, a patient finds difficulty to form mutual relationships due to emotional instability.
