As teenagers grow, they experience several changes physically and emotionally. The changes observed at this time may at times if not controlled be harmful to oneself as a result of engaging in activities that are likely to cause harm. The context of this paper seeks to discuss the extent which egocentrism and personal fable cause a risk for certain behaviors.
Psychologists define egocentrism to refer to a person’s inability to make a difference between two people and their feelings. Adolescents who experience several changes in their body and mind are affected by it as they perceive to be the center of interest and their actions should go unquestioned (Santrock, 2018) . As a result, adolescents engage in several risk behaviors that may be harmful since they are not interested to know how others perceive their actions whether good or bad.

Adolescents tend to believe they are in a special change stage of recognition and people should not ignore their presence. Egocentrism and personal fable by adolescents may at times put them into risk of engaging in unacceptable behaviors in the society. Majority of the adolescents with egocentrism and personal fable find themselves with an inflated confidence that leads them to do the wrong thing as a result of their narcissism.
Psychologists refer adolescent to be the most difficult stage of growth to teenagers and parents should be readily available to correct them whenever they try to act in an egocentric way. Adults and teenagers should have a close relationship which leads to adult direction to help teenagers avoid certain risky behaviors at this critical stage (Santrock, 2018) . At times, adolescents behave in extreme ways that calls for immediate attention and guidance to ensure such an action is not repeated in future. Guidance and counselling are the weapons commonly used to help teenagers are not affected by egocentrism and personal fable as they pass this critical stage.
