Application of Clinical Psychology Paper

Many professionals have documented the existence of different psychological disorders such as schizophrenia, psychosis, mood, bipolar, and unipolar among others. The article published by Meyer, Chapman, and Meaver (2009) talks about bipolar disorder. The article reports that the disorder has existed since time immemorial. The article also states that manic disorder is another issue that many people have suffered from, for a long time. According to the article, a manic behavior is characterized by symptoms such as delusions, hyperactive motor activities, irritability, hallucination and other transient behaviors. The article also reports that manic and depressive symptoms are a component of one disorder, which is bipolar disorder. On the other hand, many people are likely to confuse manic and depressive symptoms with others psychological such as schizophrenia. 

Similarly, the author of the article states that manic symptoms have been associated with many poets and artist more than it has been with people in the normal social and life sciences. One of the hand, The  DSM-IV-TR states that the common age where someone can acquire bipolar disorder are the early twenties. As stated above, the conditions have varied symptoms, and its onset is highly varied. The article asserts that different studies have proven that poets and artist have suffered from bipolar; therefore, making it a disease related to people in these professions. The case study uses Virginia Woolf, who was an acclaimed prose writer of the twentieth century and suffered from bipolar disorder (Meyer, Chapman, & Meaver, 2009) . The case study reports that Woolf illustrated varied human emotions in her writing. The study also reveals that she acquired the disorder from childhood and those around him described the issue as lapses into insanity. She had a history of being sexually abused by her brother at the age of five and the other brother sexually abused her at the age of fifteen. She grew up to be a successful prose writer of her century and was fortunate enough to get married to a man who stood by her side throughout their marriage. Fortunately, the bipolar condition did not affect their marriage.
