Introduction
As individuals venture into the career world, they face different employers, but one factor remains the same; most employers test career applicants with aptitude tests that test skill, with the main aim being determining whether one is a perfect fit for the task at hand. As such, the purpose of this paper is to give an analysis of my aptitude test, while using the 5C process to determine how best my interests affect my choices in my coursework as well as in my college experiences.
Enjoyable Life Experiences
I have had numerous experiences in my life that have steered me towards some of my interests. One of them is my experience with machinery, a factor that has helped me gain some technical know-how of fixing computers and desktops. It has made me learn how different machines operate and how they function when assembled differently. However, I would want to improve more on what I have learnt so far. Also, I have an interest in music databases. Through my experiences with computer hardware, I also gained knowledge of computer software, and my curiosity matched my love for music. Currently, I have basic knowledge of how to build a musical database and add some of my favourite genres as playlists. I use an online platform so that my peers can have a glimpse of my work.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
Current Aptitudes
Based on my past experiences and interests, music and mechanical skills would be the aptitudes best suited for me. I think my love for music inspires me to want to do more with my life. Similarly, my mechanical skills would be best suited to doing more for others rather than not pursuing it at all.
Aptitude Chart
Current Aptitudes | Interests and Experiences | Aptitudes to Improve |
Music | I have a basic knowledge of building a database | Organizational talents |
Mechanical skills | I have a basic knowledge of putting computer parts together | Intellectual abilities |
5C Approach – First Aptitude
I have realised that I have poor planning that leads to a lot of procrastination. As such, I feel that it may affect my coursework as I may fail to do the required tasks in good time.
The solution best fit for this problem is joining the school committee and assisting in organizing college activities. One of the benefits of this is that I would learn how to organize and plan events for myself and others, and it would also help me organize my music database (Atkinson & Longman, 2019).
The consequence of this that the committee I choose to engage in may not be actively involved in organizing events or maybe they would not have the skill I wish to adapt in my development in college or my career.
Before fully engaging in this, I will first observe the students and gauge whether or not they are well suited for what I opt to do. Additionally, I would ask questions that would help me decide whether our interests are aligned.
Measuring the outcome of my decision would need the intervention of an accountability partner. They would be responsible for ensuring that I complete all my academic and extra-curricular activities in time. They would also guide me on the necessary skills that I would need to adopt to improve my organizational talents.
5C Approach – Second Aptitude
Intellectual abilities are important in developing new ideas that may positively impact the coursework of my social interactions. I have had a challenge of coming up with new ideas, especially for my essays and examples in class. As such, it has affected my attitude immensely.
The solution to this would be reading numerous books to help me think outside the box, developing content on my own and studying alone and in groups to ensure I understand the concept and relate it to my personal experiences (Atkinson & Longman, 2019).
The consequence of this is that I may find it hard to read on my own or easily distracted while in a group. The benefit of this is that I will get to share different ideas with people, broadening my perspective on the topic of discussion.
As part of my choice, I would choose to engage in group work as I may be easily distracted if I study on my own.
My participation during group discussions and in-class would best rate the success of the choices I made, especially when I have less difficulty in content originality.
Conclusion
Aptitude tests are vital because they focus on individual abilities. This makes it easier for an individual to self-reflect on their passions and life experiences as part of their college or professional life. The skills people often ignore are crucial in self-development. This task has taught me the importance of acting on my strengths and weaknesses as a way of positively impacting my coursework and my future career.
