Bond or Freehold: What's the Difference?

Homelessness can be an unfortunate and challenging situation. In the essay “A Brother Lost”, Ashley Womble recalls the experience she had with her brother, Jay, that became homeless. Ja7 had experienced issues with schizophrenia but refused to take his medication. His situation worsened, and he chose to move out and live as a homeless person. Having a homeless family member was also difficult for Womble who also struggled with anxiety and depression as she worried about the whereabouts of her brother. The essay “A Brother Lost” by Ashley Womble provides a different perspective on homelessness by showing a need to be more compassionate and offer monetary assistance whenever possible to the homeless.

The city where I live in Arvada, Colorado has experienced a rise in homeless families and children. The rise in homelessness has been caused by several issues such as rising housing costs, a lack of affordable housing, mental health issues, and drug- abuse. With the continual rise in these issues, it is expected that the homeless population will increase. Those that experience homelessness live in harsh environments and often go without proper food and shelter.

The best response for helping the homeless when asked for money will involve showing compassion, giving them the required money, and finding other ways to help them. Helping them through monetary assistance can make their harsh living conditions better. In the essay, Womble (2011) observes that she wanted to help her brother by giving him money to buy cigarettes or buy items such as a backpack, walking shoes, and a sleeping bag. In case one considers that they will use the money to purchase drugs or other unnecessary items, one can opt to buy them food or other items that can improve their living conditions. The priority should be showing compassion and offering help whenever possible.
