The last waves of the sun rays are disappearing at the far west, the city's nightlife is catching up with its residents, street lights and the lighting systems of the city's enormous buildings are pushing away the resilient darkness consuming up the vacuum left by the already diminished sun rays. All these wonders and unexplainable nature occurrences do not seem important or worthwhile to Jason from where he is standing which is on an upper edge of a huge bridge separating the city and the suburbs. Underneath the bridge lies a silent slowly flowing portion of the lake that juxtaposes the lively side of the city and the silent suburbs. The fascinating life of the city doesn't seem interesting anymore to Jason, in fact, he feels like the whole world has turned against him. His body is shivering which is evident from the way in which his hands are trembling, from a distance you would think that his shaking is caused by his style of dressing that evening since his chest is widely exposed to the strong cold breeze passing at a high speed at the of the bridge where he was.
However, according to Jason, the cold breeze isn’t one of his worries anymore because he thinks what life has bestowed him is far much worse compared to the mare cold breeze. Jason’s shivering is not as a result of the coldness or the dangerous part of the bridge he is standing on, his shivering is being caused by fear, the extraordinary fear of what he is planning to do next. On his right hand, he is holding a white container and a small paper which appears to have some words written in it, for a closer look the handwriting of the words inscribed in the paper clearly points out it must be a doctor ’s or a physician’s descriptions of what most likely seems to relate to the container in his right hand.

Earlier that day, Jason attended his usual chemotherapy sessions in the health care center where he had been visiting for the last nine consecutive months now since he was diagnosed with lung cancer. His mind was totally consumed with deep bitter thoughts of questions and confusions which made him more irritated by the world and everything in it. All that he kept remembering in his mind is the voice of the physician who was attending to him at the health center notifying him that his conditions had become worse than they had estimated earlier before in his previous sessions. These thoughts tormented his feelings, his mind and his heart, he felt an unbearable emotional pain which even his tears could not help ease. At the same time, he did not feel like crying was going to do him any good since he had no close person to cry to. Jason had lost his father to the same poisonous living organisms that were consuming his inner fresh seven years ago. He never saw his mother since she had passed on giving birth to him thirty-six years ago which is also a part of a permanent unbearable pain and misery that he has been living with since his childhood. Jason had never experienced the motherly love other ki ds had enjoyed as they grew up, he had missed a whole life without ever knowing how it felt being raised by your own mother, this even made his inner pain worsen and torment his thoughts even more. Nevertheless, Jason had carried on with life no matter the drawbacks and the bad omen that usually brought pain to his existence in this world.
Solitude and emptiness had occupied his heart and his soul completely, he felt like all the burdens and the curses that were cast on the first humans, Adam and Eve by God had been left to him only to bear on behalf of the entire universe. Jason didn't have any specific person to identify as a friend since he felt that they would not care about his feelings and his pains, actually, he felt that there was no need of having friends as they wouldn’t understand the kind of pain and suffering he was undergoing. It wasn’t all about the emotional pain, the physical pain in his body usually interrupted his confusions and his state of thinking while he tried to balance himself on the top edge of the bridge where he was standing at. As the tiny toxic and niggling cells were consuming his body and digesting the remaining parts of his body's fresh, Jason felt like some thin sharp blades were being passed through his chest and abdomen to and fro at a relative speed. In some moments, the emotional pain was being overshadowed by the physical pain he felt shivering in that bridge, however, after a while, the physical pain disappeared and he could feel the robust agonizing emotional pain taking up his senses and his feelings, this made him become furious and annoyed by the world and the very reason of his existence. Jason questioned all reasons of his existence in this world, a world that had subjected him to an unbearable pain, a life full of negativity which did not provide him with any positive opportunity to be happy. To Jason, it didn’t make any sense, he jogged his mind back to his childhood and early adulthood life to try and remember what he had done in these previous years to deserve all the suffering and misery he was subjected to.
It was the third day that Jason had survived without having put something in his stomach. The crumbling voices in his digestive tract could be heard by someone standing several feet’s away from where he stood. Though he wanted as much as possible to make his stomach comfortable by providing some meals to it, he couldn’t do that since he had spent all the money he had to cater for his health problems and chemotherapy sessions to reduce the main. He lived a life which he had to make very conflicting choices regarding basic needs that are essential for any human being survival. However, to Jason, he didn't much of a choice but to substitute his meals for his medical expenses. Two weeks earlier Jason had resigned from a simple manual job he had been employed as a casual laborer in a certain building company, as a result of health complications caused by the cancerous cells in his breathing system which had made him very weak to provide the manual labor that was required in the building operations. Jason had spent all his earnings from the casual employment in order to acquire medical services to ease the pain that was in his body. Nonetheless, this didn't turn out well this fateful day he had visited the physician in the health center to have the chemotherapy sessions. The doctor requested him to accompany him to his medical office, something he hadn't done before since the sessions and other check-ups were carried out in speci fied rooms. He felt that something wasn't right, all the last pieces of hope he had with were diminishing and he couldn't help himself but feel the fear cutting through his veins and he was restless without knowing what the physician was going to reveal to him. Eventually, after a silent walk in the busy corridors of the hospital, they were finally in the doctor's office. The doctor welcomed Jason to his office and requested him to sit down since the matter they were to discuss was a crucial one which required him to be comfortable and calm. He hesitated at first but later on agreed to listen to what the doctor wanted to reveal to him. “All along since you started having these sessions in this health center, the medical team thought you were doing well. However, from our recent diagnosis we have realized that the cancerous cells in your breathing system have become spread more and at this level of infection there is nothing we can do Mr. Jason, am sorry to inform you that you have less than six months to live” , the doctor explained to him as he poured some pink tablets in a white container and told him that they could help him to ease the pain
Jason didn't know what to say, he took the container and walked out confused and in a total dilemma, he didn't know if he was to be happy or sad about what the doctor had revealed to him. In some moments he felt somehow happy since after the six months all the pain will be gone and he will be free from all that. At this moment he realized that it shouldn't even take that long, Jason felt that he couldn't bear that pain any longer. He strolled through the city streets until the sun was almost disappearing in the far west. He later approached the bridge that joined these two parts of the city and climbed at its cliff, after a moment of heavy silence a loud splash was heard underneath the bridge. A splash that was very fatal and which meant that Jason had made a choice, a choice not to bear the pain anymore and at the same time to be free from all the negativity the world had bestowed him.
