If I were a young person in the United States at the beginning of the 20 th Century, I would support WEB Dubois’s vision. He was the first African American to achieve a Ph. D. from Harvard University. Dubois was the best known spokesperson for African American rights through prolific writing. He also managed to co-find the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. During the 1900s, African Americans were viewed by many as inferiors to the white race. This black American thinker exhibited coherence and unity in a multifaceted society to bring in equality, black pride and cultural diversity. Dubois believed that racial equality would be achieved if African Americans enjoyed the same civil and political rights as white elites.

In his book The Study of the Negro Problem , Dubois explained how emancipation had contributed to the rise of crime amongst Blacks in America. He therefore believed that a black crime would decrease if the African Americans were exposed to equal status with whites and higher economic standards ( Burghardt Dubois, 1898). In his research, Dubois had found out that discrimination had kept African Americans away from better paying jobs. In addition, Dubois discouraged political disfranchisement, segregation and focused on how to improve the lives of African Americans. Dubois was right in that the only true way for African Americans to empower themselves was by seeking university education (Du Bois, 1899); differing with Booker T. Washington’s idea of focusing on industrial and manual labor. It is unfortunate that Washington believed that African Americans should have worked for the whites and not rebel. Dubois also supports the establishment of Freedmen’s Bureau which provided help to freed blacks.

Marable supports Dubois fight for Democracy in America. In addition, Dubois further organized the Cultural and scientific conference for World War Peace in March 1949. In this line, Dubois and his group founded the Peace Information center in 1950 which he chaired its Advisory council. This center promoted the Stockholm Peace Appeal which fought against atomic weapons for their crime against humanity and asking for international controls. In his fight for peace, Dubois opposed Korean War.

I am in support of Dubois fight against Economic inequities during slavery in America. Persons worked without pay or for very little pays. Therefore, it was impossible for them to have savings. As for matters Education, Dubois supported a diverse system of education. He found education beneficial and a support for success. Dubois believed that Education could immensely contribute to the progress of blacks and help them move from one class to another. Dubois also supported the black church in America concerning matters religion. He additionally supported the religious needs, educational information, provision of economic needs, fight against discrimination and racism all which are reflected in church.
