From the time I was a little child, I have always tried my best to help others. I wanted to assist, and nothing is more soothing than realizing I had impacted positively on someone’s else life. Before anything else, taking care of people is my passion.
A month after celebrating her first wedding anniversary, my aunt was hospitalized. I still remember that day like it was yesterday. I walked into the emergency room, saw her skull in a pool of blood, and broke down in tears. I was sitting in one of the corridors with tears trickling down my cheeks when a nurse came next to me and said to me that everything would well. Were it not for the school, I would have certainly not left her side. I became anxious and posed several questions so as to be updated on what was happening, and through that, I learned a lot. Before leaving for school, I approached her and told her how much I loved her, and I would return at 4 o’clock. She was happy to hear that and she said that she would tell me where to find her. I never realized that this was going to be the last conversation with her. I received an emergency call from the hospital informing me about her sudden change. As I approach the hospital reception, I saw my family at one of the corners in the hospital praying. That was enough indication to conclude that she had passed away- my best friend, my aunt, and I felt fed up with life.

Something came into my mind, and I realized that life has to continue. Death is part of living; so, I started thinking positive and resumed my education. I cannot just be there watching people undergo what I went through. The experience I had with my aunt while in the hospital will remain to be a motivation to help others. Further, my hope is to be that nurse who came to console me while I was crying at the hospital. I want to be that nurse who can impact positively on others and who can raise the spirit of patients because I am who I am.
I want to ensure that my actions impact positively on people around me. And by doing so, I will be making the earth a safer place to live. I know that I cannot achieve these without a strong background in education and training in nursing. I need the training and education to help me take good care of people.
