Change is often viewed as being inevitable considering that every aspect of the society is expected to remain dynamic in its approach towards maintaining a positive outlook. That can be seen from the renovated undertaken at Westfield High School, which was expected to give the school a new feel and outlook. The renovations were expected to establish a new front through which to ensure that students would get a much better connection to the differentiated learning environments. Additionally, the renovations were seen as key towards creating a much better environment through which students would be able to connect with each other as part of improving their learning outcomes. The focus of this essay is to engage in a comparison and contrast of Westfield High School before and after the renovations.

The first key aspect of comparison before and after the renovations is spaces for students to relax. One of the key challenges that the students experienced, previously, related to lack of adequate spaces that would allow them to relax effectively. The renovations were able to deal with this challenge considering that the new layout features a large hallway with a two-story-high ceiling. Additionally, the new layout also introduces oversized staircases, which play a critical role towards managing traffic within the school effectively. Basically, this serves as a clear indication of the fact that indeed the new layout of the school has been able to provide students with adequate space for them to relax.

The second aspect of comparison after the renovation of the school is the eating areas, which have gone through major transformations with the school management seeking to introduce café-style eating areas. As opposed to the previous design where students were expected to eat at the school’s main cafeteria, the new design has created few seating areas around different café-like places that are placed at different points within the school environment. The new eating areas are designed to resemble a college-like environment with the view being that this would ensure that students spend less time in the cafeteria during lunch periods.

Lastly, the renovation of Westfield High School also sought to introduce flexible classrooms with the view being towards creating additional classrooms, as well as, increasing the student capacity. In the last education year, the school had a student capacity of 2,250 students. However, this has increased to a student capacity of 3,200 students attributed to an increase in the number of classrooms with an additional 35 classes. The layout of the classroom is equally different considering that the new layout ensures that the environment is built in ‘pods.’ That means that the classes will be clustered with a common space that has been created at the center to allow for an easier connection with the individual students.

In summary, every aspect of the society remains as being dynamic; thus, serving as a key determinant of changes adopted in different parts of the society. An example of such change can be seen from the case of Westfield High School, which has gone through renovations as a way of improving its ability to provide an effective learning environment for its students. A comparison and contrast of the school before and after the renovations takes note of the fact that the renovations have introduced spaces for students to relax, café-like eating areas, and flexible classrooms. An analysis of each of these aspects suggests that the renovations have had serious implications towards changing the general outlook of the student, which gives the students a much better feel of the learning environment.
