This paper describes the leadership style, suitable for a construction company (Company W). In particular, the paper explains why the autocratic type of leadership is suitable in such a construction company as Company W. The autocratic type of leadership entails the leader making decisions for the organization without consulting the others. The style is effective in such organizations that must have error free results throughout their existence. The style is not preferred by most subordinates but it is quite popular in the current work place.

In this manual, Company W is associated with the production of modern home finishes such as chandeliers and other lighting fixtures. The production of these products must be systematic and extremely orderly. This could explain the need for an autocratic leader who will ensure the perfection and orderliness. Consequently, the products need to be sold quickly after production in order for other fixtures to be produced. Thus the need for perfection in the production and quick sells informs the choice of the leadership style. This will also result in the best results for the company and equally please the shareholders, who will be happy about the profits. Apart from shareholders being happy with the profit levels, they will also be impresses that the company would be making quality and admirable products (Coveys & Media, 2015).

The specific concerns to this construction company include perfect accuracy in all lines of production. The possible staff in such a company must undergo a quick training period that must be effective altogether. With an autocratic leadership this objective is easily achieved and the company is not paralyzed in its operations. Consequently, training of the employees does not take so much time because of the presence of an autocratic leader. Since the company has several departments the leadership style will ensure that all the departments are streamlined. This will improve the productivity of these departments and in turn result to commendable profit margins (Coveys & Media, 2015).

The company also needs to focus on its customer base that will buy its final products. An autocratic leadership style ensures that there is growth in the customer base. The authoritarian leader gives the sales team a target that must be achieved after sometime. Since there is no room for under delivery, the sales team goes out of its way to make impressive sales (Coveys & Media, 2015.

The most preferred leadership style for this company is the autocratic model. Consequently, the choice of the autocratic style is informed by several factors relating to the company. For instance, this style enables one leader to be in charge and provide all the required guidelines. Evidently, the role of this company is to drive subordinates to make fewer mistakes during execution of their work. Errors by employees working at this construction company can result in many loses for the company. However, the presence of an authoritarian leader will ensure that the company registers minimal loses.

The two attributes of autocratic leadership to be included in the manual are to be authoritarian and be a perfectionist at the same time. Their authoritarian attribute helps them use the style effectively. This is attributable to the requirement of the style to avoid using the opinions of their subordinates. Such a leader requires making all the decisions for everyone in the company. The second attribute enables leaders to make the right choices as the choice involves the entire company. The Leaders of company W must read about these attributes in order to ensure discipline and preparedness at all times (Ghuman, & Aswathappa, 2010).

People in the contemporary world might argue that autocratic leadership styles are unsuitable for the modern work place. This is not true since the leadership style has borne fruits in both historic and modern companies. For example, there is evidence that John Smith set up U.S colonies using the style. Henry Ford equally used the style to popularize the automobile and in turn changed his society. There was creation of several job opportunities and a raise in the wages of those workers. Similarly, if Company W effectively uses the suggested leadership style, then there could be great outcomes after sometime (Ghuman, & Aswathappa, 2010).

The current leader who fits in the autocratic leadership model is Martha Stewart whose autocratic leadership style is known the world over. She is in charge of her company Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. Reports indicate that she is a perfectionist who is always meticulous in her way of doing things. She expects all her employees to be as meticulous as she is or risk losing their respective jobs. Martha Stewart has been able to build what people refer to as her empire using the autocratic leadership style (Hamilton, 2008).

In conclusion, leaders of Company W must follow the manual that requires them to use the autocratic leadership style. This will result in more profits for the company as there will be perfect productions and quick sales. However, there is need to advise that the style should not be used to frustrate employees but bring out the best in them
