PART A
Critically analyze the Cultural Assimilation Ideology and the Multicultural Ideology
Cultural assimilation is a process that involves different cultural groups developing into a similar or more alike way. The end result of cultural assimilation is to obtain a culture that cannot be distinguished based on their former differences. Cultural assimilation in most situations occurs when a minority group adopts the majority group culture hence obtain the majority aspects such as values, practices, behavior, and ideology to the extent that they cannot be distinguished from the majority group (Cole, 2018). Multiculturalism ideology refers to a demographic reality in which their groups of people, who are ethnically diverse, speak a different language, and differs in religions, values, and beliefs (Ari, 2018). In the education system, multicultural has been incorporated in the curricula to introduce students from different diversity at an early age into the grade school system. The introduction of minority students at an early age is important since the minority students grow up feeling they are represented, and the majority of students understand the importance of having the minority students as part of their culture system.
PART B
Scenario: One of your immigrant learners informs you that her native peers are refusing to work collaboratively with her because of her ethnicity (i.e., she is experiencing discrimination). Explain how you are going to handle this situation by providing concrete examples

Handling ethnic discrimination among learners involves different approaches. In the scenario provided, some of the approaches that might be used to address the discrimination situation include identifying sources of prejudice in the situation. Identifying the source of discrimination would enable the provision of relevant teachings that would enhance the explanation to learners about the issue resulting in ethnic discrimination. For example, the students refusing to work with their colleagues might have a different idea concerning the religion of the other student, which represents a source of acting in a discriminatory manner (Bennett, 2019). Another approach that educators can use in the situation provided is through conducting explicit lessons on ethnicity. The lessons should involve addressing cultural misunderstanding and the importance of learners working together without considering each other’s differences. The lessons should influence the behaviors of learners including their capability to influence other learners to understand the knowledge and awareness regarding differences in ethnicity.
