Crisis intervention is a significant component of counseling. People go through diverse forms of crisis in their lives, social and maybe psychological which they need help with. It takes a competent counselor with the right skills to help such individuals to overcome such challenges. Crisis interventions, call for the individual to, therefore, understand themselves first and to acknowledge that they are I deed in a lousy state of crisis. Once an individual realizes that they are in some state of emergency, then they will be in prime position to seek for assistance. The intervention process, therefore, starts with the individual psychology. Self-denial is a big challenge in the intervention plans such, effective crisis intervention requires that one must know themselves and what personal issues they may be up for them.

Through the crisis intervention studies, I have come across various readings that have given me deeper insights into what is needed for effective crisis management to be successful. In a smiley way, I have come to acknowledge that the role of a counselor is very prominent in the crisis treatment process. A counselor can identify the issues that confront the individual and in a way help them out in finding the right help. A counselor, according to the book may or not possess the mental health care knowledge, but must be able to relate well with the individuals who are in need of the counseling. The book demonstrates that crisis may have different definitions and understandings; all of this depends on each of the individual’s cases. The crisis, just like in previous experiences I saw my mother going through may be a situation which the client went through in their coping strategies. In a typical way which I tend to resonate best with, the crisis may be caused by an internal case of sadness and confusion that may be undefined even to the individual. In more than one case, I have found myself saddened by things that I do not know anything about.

The crisis intervention process, as the book discusses are first categorized in their relevant categories. I agree that eh crisis components such as an event. So many events in our lives, especially in the past, such as the when growing up, accidents may cause the mental and psychological crisis to us. Also, the perception by an individual is a factor in the generation and development f crisis. I have in more than one way wrongfully perceived some situations as a crisis, even when in reality they were not. On campus, for instance, I always dreaded association with drunkards. They always reminded me of the accident that I once was involved in when my dad was driving while drunk.

The book addresses the need to break down the psychological dysfunction to allow an individual to resume their previous lives. In the same manner, it is entirely correct to say that the individual’s behaviors. My religious counselor has a better apprehension of this concept. Each time I engage him in any means of generating the realities of life, way before he seeks to answer and propose any solution.

Personal behaviors and characters are my greatest undoing in as far as the book recognizes BASIC personality profile as the contributing factors to the crisis. My emotional weakness completed with the lack of strong ethical background are just but one of the most significant contributors to the crisis in my life. I have also come to understand why my counselor always assesses me concerning my weaknesses and to try to provide help me through the Affective process as has been advanced in the book. The importance to examine the client’s physical health is to ensure that they are in prime condition to undergo the counseling session.

The book on the crisis intervention beautifully assesses the role of interpersonal skills as well as the cognitive behaviors and their position in helping the clients out. Therefore, the role of a counselor, as I have to learn is to relate intimately with the client and to be able to find a comprehensive solution plan to all the issues arising.
