Problem-solving becomes easy when critical thinking is involved. Through critical thinking, one gets in a position to actively and skillfully conceptualize, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate information gathered through observation, reasoning, reading, or experience for a better course of action. Critical thinking helps a lot in arriving at more reasonable judgments and minimizes errors in problem solving. According to Al Sharadgahm (2014), there are eight characteristics of thinking critically which include: asking questions, examining evidence, analyzing given assumptions deeply before putting them to use, avoiding emotional arguments, factoring in other people's interpretations, tolerating ambiguity so as to think through deeply, and defining problems from all angles (Al Sharadgahm, 2014).

Critically thinking demands that one conceptualizes his or her thoughts while undertaking a particular task and utilize this awareness to gain control over the situation. The essential parts of critical thinking are being open minded, skeptical, and valuing evidence based reasoning (Al Sharadgahm, 2014). Additionally, there ought to be a criteria used to arrive at solutions step by step in order to have certain conditions met before implementing the reached reasoning.

Critical thinking is necessary for today's society especially with the massive information already in existence. Through it, students weed through information and avoid accepting information passively without synthesizing and analyzing it. Teaching students to think critically enables them to apply relevant skills to their academic problems and solve other complex problems they encounter on a daily basis (Al Sharadgahm, 2014). In order to improve critical thinking, strategies such as Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs), case study analysis, peer questioning, assignments, dialogues, and advocating ambiguity can be employed so as to make students think their way out.
