Rights 

Different programs and legislations can be used to enrich the quality of life for people with developmental disorders. The Individual Program Plans under the Lanterman Act improve the quality of life by describing choices, preferences, needs, objectives, and goals and facilitating support and services that help these individuals to attain these objectives. NAMI San Diego improves the quality of life through education and support programs that dispel stigma and ignorance on mental health. SDCEPD enhances the quality of life by offering employment opportunities to people with developmental disorders. 

Satisfactions 

Other programs improve satisfaction levels among people living with disabilities which ultimately enhance the quality of life. For instance, Access to Independence enhances the quality of life for people with developmental disorders by allowing them to engage in community activities to ensure independence. DOR improves the quality of life for people with disabilities by offering programs that promote independent living, employment, and equality. Finally, EFRC enhances the quality of life by providing opportunities that help them feel empowered and fully engage within the community.

Lanterman Act 

Lanterman Act Chapter 4 

The legislation is applied to California and offers persons with disabilities the right to the support and service they require to live a normal and autonomous life. 

Individual Program Plans (IPP) is a document within the Lanterman Act that acts as an agreement between people with developmental disabilities and the regional center, which outlines the support and services needed to help these people lead normal and independent lives. 

IPP improves the quality of life of persons living with disabilities because it describes their choices, preferences, needs, objectives, and goals and facilitates support and services that help them attain their objectives. The agreement allows people with disabilities to stay in their communities and enjoy productive, independent, and normal lives. 

NAMI San Diego

NAMI San Diego offers a voice to the community on the issue of cognitive illness. It was founded in 1978 by families of individuals with the cognitive illness and is a partner of NAMI California and the NAMI organization. NAMI San Diego receives donations from the public, corporations, and private foundations.

NAMI San Diego works to educate consumers, families, and the community about mental illnesses. The non-profit organization also offers information about finding financial support and treatment and how to embark on the road to recovery. NAMI San Diego also advocates ending the stigma which limits the livelihoods and lives of people with mental illnesses 

NAMI San Diego can improve the quality of life of persons with mental illnesses by offering education and support programs. These programs help persons with cognitive disorders and their relatives to get coping mechanisms for their everyday struggles with mental disorders. The organization also offers education to dispel stigma and ignorance associated with mental issues allowing people with developmental disorders to live normal lives without stigmatization. 

San Diego Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities (SDCEPD)

SDCEPD promotes employment opportunities to individuals with developmental disorders through public action, offering free training to enterprises and fostering partnerships with private and public companies.

SDCEPD can promote employment opportunities through DTC for employers that educate and guide employers on how best to employ people with disabilities. The organization also uses KSM Scholarship to promote employment opportunities for people with disabilities through post-secondary school training and education. Finally, the organization uses Jobtoberfest Job Fair, which holds a yearly job fair for persons with developmental disorders. 

SDCEPD helps to increase the quality of life for people with disabilities through employment opportunities. These opportunities allow these groups to apply their skills and training in professions that make them productive members of society. Additionally, employment opportunities help people to enhance their financial positions.

Access to Independence operates in San Diego. The non-profit organization works to promote the full participation of people with disabilities with the ultimate goal of sustaining and maximizing their independence. The organization is funded by donations from the public, corporations, and private foundations.

The non-profit organization offers core services that include information and referral, advocacy, personal assistance, peer support, diversion, and transition. Access to Independence of San Diego focuses on offering unique programs based on the community's needs. 

Access to Independence improves the quality of life for people living with disabilities because it allows them to participate in community activities to enhance independence. The organization strives to create barrier-free communities to offer equal opportunities to people with disabilities. 

California Department of Rehabilitation

The Department of Rehabilitation operates in the state of California. The department collaborates with drug and substance users and other stakeholders to offer services and support to people living with disabilities. The California state government funds DOR.

DOR governs the biggest recovery and independent living programs within the U.S. These programs are aimed at helping employment seekers with developmental disorders to attain competitive occupation in an inclusive work environment. DOR has enhanced the quality of life for people living with developmental disorders by offering services and advocacy that result in independent living, employment, and equality. The department also promotes innovation, ingenuity, and creativity, which helps people with disabilities to develop their competencies. 

Exceptional Family Resource Center

EFRC focuses on offering its services in San Diego. The organization focuses on providing support, education, and crucial information to families of children with developmental disorders and the specialists who help them. The non-profit organization is funded by donations from the public, corporations, and private foundations.

EFRC offers family-driven services emphasizing parent choices, collaboration, and confidentiality. The organization will offer customized resources for every family's specific needs to ensure children with disabilities receive optimal care.

Families use support from the organization to help their children reach their fullest potential.
